There is a little plastic "nut" on the end but does not want to crew off.

They're called "wire nuts". Turn them counterclockwise to remove, lay the wires you need to join side by side with the ends of the bared sections even and screw the nut on.

The nut is reverse threaded . If you hold the fan with one hand use a ratchet to loosen the nut, you will have good enough leverage to break it, but if you don't then here's a little trick....Take your vise grip pliers and clamp it to the belt end shft of the motor. Now with your worktable (or floor) brace the vise gripped motor shaft . with the ratchet, turn the nut to the right. Like you're tightening it. this should be sufficient enough torque to bust that nut. I hope I was able to help you , let me know. Thanks, Rene (the Vacuum Doctor)

this is a left handed thread
you mite have to hold the other end of the shaft twith a pair of pliers , to un screw it

See if you can pick up a nylock nut for the pulley. As long as your nut is a standard thread and not a reverse thread fastener.

On the bottom of the Fantom Fury where it states: & quote; The United States and Canada utility patent....& quote; Now go to the far right end of this statement (the end opposite the spring, well I have a crack in the plastic which, when toggled, moves the entire plastic underside of the vacuum to move. In other words, I think I need an entire bottom plastic plate. The cracked area also makes the foot lever (which lowers or locks the vacuum handle) not work as the crack makes it impossible to work. I know you probably do not know what I am talking about but if you could just tell me where I could purchase the entire plastic plate of the bottom of the vacuum I would be very grateful. As of now, my vacuum cannot be used and I need it to be operational.

I would advise you to ALWAYS to FIRST UNPLUG YOUR VACUUM before beginning any service procedure.

I was having the same problem. Roomba would run for 30 seconds and then stop. I tried everything -- then I took the small rubber brush out and removed the small nut at the end. It was packed with dust to the point that it could not turn easily. I cleaned it out and now it is working like a champ. I think the automatic shut down was just a sign that there was too much strain to turn the brushes.

The correct belt is a 38528035. If the belt does not have this number printed on it, it is a generic belt and probably the wrong one. The pulley on the transmission is "convex" because this pulley design keeps the belt running in the middle. (a belt will always try to "climb up a hill") If the motor shaft and the pulley are not aligned properly, the belt will constantly throw off. This can be a result of a bad motor mount (located inside the motor compartment.) The motor shaft end has a rubber cover that absorbs vibration and keeps the motor positioned squarely. The handle could also be loose on the pivot. It is held down by two metal clamps that screw securely to the bottom, holding the handle on to the base and allowing for the handle to pivot backwards. This problem can be difficult to diagnose and I have had many in my shop for repair. It takes a seasoned and experienced repairman to find a solution to this problem, in most cases. The disadvantage I have here is that I cannot see your machines to inspect all the various things that effect the belt alignment. I hope that some of this information will help.
