Question about Keyboards & Mice

1 Answer

Mouse inconsistent logitech wireless mouse WAS stable until recently. Inconsistencies are - one click acts like 2. single click to grab a window to move acts like min/max. single click in Thunderbird to delete an email, deletes 2 emails. All of these are sometimes. Then it settles down for a while. I've already changed batteries in mouse, reviewed mouse sensitivity settings - though I changed nothing to start with. Slowed mouse double clicks down to try to test. A wired mouse acts stable. No such issues. Environ: Toshiba Satellite with latest upgrades to Vista. System has been stable for almost 2 years (as stable as Vista is). Any suggestions before I replace the wireless mouse. TIA Sam

Other than checking with the manufacturer for updated drivers or known issues - or attempting to roll-back the driver if a new one has been installed recently, I can't think of anything, seems to be a sticking button or otherwise faulty mouse.

When I left click it will double click

There is a possibility that on the windows operating system (control panel/ mouse) the option to double click with a single touch is turned on. I doubt that it is a problem related to the wireless system itself.

Logitech G7 cordless laser mouse - erratic action

Acting on advice from another FixYa string, we blew out the mouse and dock several times with canned air. It performed slightly better, but then as we continued to use the mouse it suddenly cleared and is working almost 100% now.

From reading earlier strings, I'm wondering why Logitech (in its product material received on purchase) doesn't recommend this as periodic maintenance for the mouse?

sorry for the delay as I've done alot serviceing pc's, laptops last month

have you got the drivers installed if so remove them and re-install drivers but first have you got a ps2 port wired mouse if so plug this in and boot pc and try on windows mail application and if it does the same then grab yourself some spyware removal software and virus removal software and run these without being online then try again with mouse on applaction if same resaults then you need to re-do windows from scratch saving out all personal files first then if the problem has dissapered then re-try wirless mouse but get latest software drivers from web.
