Re: Printer Problem

Are you using Printer cable (LPT) or USB cable? If you are using Printer (LPT) cable, do the following test: Activate command prompt (Start-Run and type CMD) On command prompt, type dir >prn This command sends the directory list on to the printer. This command works even without driver. It is like a hardware test. Make sure that the printer is ready and has paper. If the pinter uses USB interface then do the following: Make sure that the USB interface is working, you can verify this by viewinf the hardware list (right click Mycomputer select properties and then hardware, device manager. At thebottom you can see Universal Serial Bus Controllers. Expand the tree and look if there are errors (? or !) If the USB is not installed properly maybe you have to install the motherboard XP driver from AOpen or you can install Service Pack 2 .

Re: Printer Problem

Two possibilities, if you are in possession of the motherboard drivers you will need to install them as windows xp will be using generic ones and may not be suitable for your board, also try installing in a different usb port. The other is that the drivers you are using will probably be win 2000 and in your case it wont work with XP, so go to your printer manufacturer web site and download and install XP drivers.

Aopen ax34 tamper alarm--how to reset????

I don't think that board actually has a tamper alarm in the bios, password security yes but I saw no mention of a tamper alarm. Besides, a tamper alarm won't stop the pc from booting, it just lets you know that the case has been opened....sorry. I think you likely have a mainboard/ram issue.

First thing is to clear the bios. Here's how. Right beside the floppy connector, there is a jumper labeled 'JP14'. Please do the following

  1. Turn off the pc and remove the ac power cord.
  2. Remove the atx power connector from the mainboard (from power supply).
  3. Locate jp14 and move the jumper from pins 1 and 2 to pins 2 and 3. Wait 10 seconds.
  4. Put jp14 back to pins 1 and 2
  5. Reconnect the atx power connector.
Or you can just unplug it from the waal and remove the bios battery for an hour.
sa code
Try to fire it up again. If it still won't boot, then let me know the number of beeps it makes and the pattern to the beeps ie: one long beep then another long beep or 1 long beep then 2 short ones. These beep are actually telling you what the problem is.

Hope this helps! Post a comment and let me know how you make out.
