Heater turns on, but intermittenly

LenoxC26-51, elite series
Just installed a new thermostat today, but the problem is still occuring. The heater was blowing warm air right after I installed the new thermostat, but I just returned home (after 2 hours) and now it's 57 degrees again in the house. Checking the heater, the gas isn't blowing. Help! It's 32 degrees outside and getting colder.

Turn the power to the furnace off and then back on and see if it resets. If not you may have a bad ignitor or dirty sensor.
Hope this helps.

What about thermostat wire? What ya got 2 wires right? Touch them together she supposed to ignite the flames then after a few minutes the fan kicks in on fan models. You got the knob on the gas valve turned to the "ON" position?

How to install programmable thermostat

If it is a wall furnace with a built-in thermostat(sounds like the 1 to 10 dial is the thermostat) into the control then you would need to buy an updated gas contol valve that will hook up to an external thermostat and a programmable thermostat. The old gas contol valve would need to be removed and the new one installed. Then the thermostat wires would connect to the gas control valve millivolt system. A heating company can perform this service for you and I highly recommend you have it professionaly installed if you are not experienced on this process. You could leave a gas leak or other hazardous situation if not installed correctly.

Hello I have a GMP 150 installed last year. The furnace works fine, but after a day or so, it does not react to the thermostat. so the led light of the thermostat is solid red, but the GMP 150 does not...

This sounds Programmable Thernostat related. Do you have a new thermostat? And are you familiar with how to overide the progammed feature, such as set on manual or push the hold button. Thermostats are generic so you could have any make or model. If you feel confident you could install a different Thermostat. You just need to unplug and then mark the wires accordingly- there should be 4 wires. There are a couple other things that could be happening is your unit may not be lighting properly. If you go to the unit when its not working I believe your unit has a blinking light on the circuit board of the unit that will tell you what problem is occuring. The code is affixed to the furnace panel I believe. There are so many safetys on your unit, the best way to troubleshoot is that tattletale light. Good Luck

Honeywell RTH230B will not call for heat.

On a call for heat an internal switch should connect Rh and W, if it does not the stat is bad. Try it with no wires connected.

Cannot get the heating element to turn off properly on Lasko 5620

From whatI have seen on base board heaters if I recall correctly, the thermostat may be sepperate. Usually thermostats on these have a round knob. 1 line goes to this and the other side of the thermostat goes to 1 end of th element and the othe line attaches to the other side of the element. Its possible you have the element wired in directky if it came without a thermostat and without instructions it may till be connected directly. You should have an L1 and L2 connection and hope there is a wire diagram on the cover.
THE reason these basebord heaters used to come without a thermostat is because they are (OR WERE)set up to add on additional heaters comming right on down the wall. At the last one you could tie in and get a correct rated thermostat installed in the center of the series.
Return to LOWES and ask them to remove the instructions and copy them for you from another like model. Or have them contact the manufacturer and request they fax a copy of instructions with a diagram. Also ask if the heater comes with a thermostat. It may stoill be sepperate in another kit.

Changing out old thermostat

your old thermostat is a milivolt and the wire runs from the heater to the thermostat. You have to open the back of the new one and connect the wire as per the instructions on the wireing diagram that came with the new one. I just installed a similar one myself, you will be very happy with it.
