Question about KitchenAid 24 in. KUDI02CRBS stainless Steel Built-in Dishwasher
This unit has worked perfectly for 16 months. Has always ran very quietly. Last week in certain stages of the wash cycle it has started to make a lound whinning noise. It fills and drains fine. Took the sump pump a part and found little trash. This noise is coming from underneath. I do not think it is the motor because the noise is not cosistant - only at certain stages in the wash cycle. Could it be the impeller on the motor?
Pull the dishwasher and check the sidewinder motor to verify that's the source of the noise.if so replace the motor. or check if there is any loose wire hanging.

Its possible, something is in the water pump making that noise, if not then its either the gearcase, basket drive/clutch. You may want to consider professional repair. If you need any further assistance please let me know. Also please take a moment to accept and rate my solution accordingly.
here are a couple other possibilities.
Water-inlet valve An aging water-inlet valve can sometimes fail slowly, rather than all at once. It can shudder on and off rapidly, causing the incoming water lines to shake, rumble, and rattle--sometimes violently. If yours is doing this, replace the inlet valve.
Motor If it's the motor that's noisy, either of these may be the "culprit:"
Pump Small fruit pits, toothpicks, and fragments of glass sometimes get stuck in the pump. When this happens, open the pump and remove the debris. The pump is usually mounted directly to the motor, then attached to the bottom of the dishwasher.
To get to the pump, you usually need to remove the lower rack, the spray arms, and the spray arm support from the inside of your dishwasher. A dishwasher pump isn't obvious. Look for an impeller--a round, plastic fan blade-type device that spins around and pushes the water toward the drain. When you can see the drain impeller, you should be able to see the clogging debris.
