Games red lights on ring

Everytime I put in a game it will run fine for about 1 or 2 minutes then the whole game freezes, there is a buzzing sound and a bunch of weird lines show up on the screen or sometimes it just blacks out all together

I have had the same issue, it happned during a game of CoD4, it was working fine and once it happned the first time i shut it off, then it did it again, so i thought it was just CoD4, so i waited till then next day played rockband for mabye 20 mins or so and it went to green lines again.

Same issue here... Was gearing up for a game of GTA IV with some friends. As soon as the game started it froze. No red lights... I turned the system off. STarted it up again and the same thing happened. Everything loaded fine all the way up to where you take control. Froze right up again. I figure its the install to the HD that is the problem. I un-install the game and run it from the disk. Same soon as the game loads it craps. Then I figure alright lets just go play COD:WaW. All the menus it is fine. I set up a multiplayer... invite my friends. All systems go. Everything is loading... all of us talking smack via LIVE. The bam. Complete black screen... Nothing. No red lights. Turn system of and back on. Get to the menu screen and not more than10 seconds later the video is frozen again. Again, no red lights. Green lights only.

During the 2-3 day period when this was going on I actually was showing my dad what was going on and after about the ~15th time of turning on the system since originally getting the problem i finally got the 3ROD...not that its a good thing but at least i know the problem and can now address it. My guess for why the red lights isnt showing is because my GPU is a lot more messed up than my CPU so I suppose the GPU went out first and finally the CPU went out also. (Yes I took it apart...because my warranty expired a couple months ago...I got mine on the original release date too so I'm surprised it lasted this long without problems and kinda ticked that it took this long for the problem to show up). As for addressed this problem, if the game totally freezes and the graphics get messed up then I would send it in to Microsoft if its still under warranty, and if it isnt then its really your choice: you can send it in to Microsoft and have them MAYBE fix the problem for ~$140, you can try to fix the problem yourself (which is what I'm doing and its going very well so far because fortunately the problem is well-documented all over the internet...i spent a couple hours reading articles on XBox 360 Forums and watching videos on youtube, etc.), or you can go on eBay and I think theres a service that will fix your XBox for about $60 if you get either 2 or 3 Red Lights. I have spent about $10 total on everything I need to fix the 3ROD and I should have it up and running in a couple days.

My xbox 360 freezes after being on for a couple of minutes. How do i stop this

If it freezes and then the next time you turn it on has red lights on the console display check out the corresponding Microsoft articles for the number of red rings on the display. They appear in quadrants on it.
1 red ring
2 red rings
3 red rings
4 red rings

If you do not have any rings, your console may just be overheating. Give it a while to cool down and if that doesn't work, give Microsoft a call: 1-800-4MYXBOX. Good Luck!

Game freezes after playing for a while but no red rings appear

Games freeze for two reasons. Overheating and the hard drive locking up. If you have your games installed, you most likely eliminated the overheating problem.

Since you are not getting Red Ring, it probably isn't overheating. That leaves the hard drive. Turn of the console and unplug it. Remove the hard drive. Now is a good time to clean any dust from the connectors or vents. Reattach and play. Some games like Fable 2, Fallout 3, and others are more prone to freezing when accessing the hard drive that others. If it is freezing more times than not, you have an issue with the hard drive.

Game freezes and dots appear on screen

I hate to break it to you, but you may have gotten the Red Ring Of Death. It happens when playing a game and it is transmitted through online play through Xbox Live. 3 red lights will appear around the power button when your console has become infected. The Red Ring of Death may have infected your console causing it to shut down. Most Xbox 360 consoles won't turn back on but some do turn back on but they just won't play games, they will freeze up and have the dotted lines and make the buzzing noise. I'm sorry, but I think you may need a new console. You're in luck if it's still under warranty. Hope this helps!!!!

Games Are Freezing

this has happened to me...
i was first getting red ring of death
then i fixed it and never got RROD again
but it started freezing during gameplay, then at dashboard and then at the beginning until it couldnt start at all...
this can be cause by overheating GPU and CPU causing them to bend and lose connection...just like RROD, or it can possibly be that component that reads and plays games, is screwed up...

My 360 keeps freezing

No red lights? Do you have your system properly vented? If you own an older system you may want to consider purchasing a cooling fan. Also some games are known to have a freezing glitch "Ex: Rainbow 6 vegas 1" If the games are freezing all the time after just 10 minutes that sounds like something you may want to contact Microsoft about repairing

Xbox 360 Freeze!!

It's a common fault with X boxes, the red lights indicate overheating, so make sure it is well ventillated and if neccasary you can purchase an add on cooler for the system.
