Question about Microsoft Windows XP Professional

Java will not show my pictures in my Nav Bar scroll

Since I installed Service Pack 3 for XP PRO, the scroll bar that I have in my NAV Bar will not show the pictures that are there. Haven't had any problems for years...... till the Service Pack install. I vaguely remember that there is some other Java-like program that can be used?

Also, when I right click to put the shortcut to this page on my desktop, it will not put the entire webpage..... only the Main section if that is where I click. Likewise, if I click in the Nav Bar section to get the shortcut, it will only put the Nav Bar on my desktop. What's going on? I had the shortcut on my desktop from before the Service Pack install, and when I clicked on it, the WHOLE page came up. After the install, only the one section comes up. What has Microsoft done now? How can I fix these 2 problems? Thank you, Seline

    Hello Chrishov,

At my website, in the NavBar, I have a scrolling Java applet. The text shows but there are pictures that are supposed to show just before the text for each pianist. In the Source, I see the pictures listed, at the bottom of the applet info in the source code. But they do not show. The applet is about 8 years old, worked until I downloaded the Service Pack 3 for my XP Pro. My computer is new this year. Using Internet Explorer 7 and Sun Java 6 update 11. I recall many years ago that I had this problem and installed a different Java from the original one, and then it worked. However, I do not know which Java worked and which Java did not.....they were different companies. Now, I can only find Sun Java. That may be the one that did not work years ago, I don't recall.

The other problem, is now - when I right click to put my webpage shortcut on my desktop - it will not save the entire page as ONE page. Instead, it will only save the section I right clicked on. I have 3 sections, Main, NavBar and Top banner. It never did this before Service Pack 3. It's annoying. Is there a solution that I can do to fix this......perhaps in the source code? I have not updated this webpage in years, and am not very active with it, so have forgotten how to do things in my Dreamweaver 3.

Thank you for any help you can give me.

Can i get on facebook witha nook tablet

With the Nook Color software update in April 2011, Nook Color owners can download and install a Facebook application from the Nook Store on the Barnes and Noble e-Book reader.
Once you install a Facebook app on your device, you can follow and add status updates along with anything else you would do on Facebook.
Access the Nook store on your device and choose from the available Facebook apps created specifically for the Nook Color.
Tap the "Nav Arrow" to open the Quick Nav Bar.
The arrow is at the bottom center of the screen.

Tap "Shop" from the Quick Nav Bar to open the Nook Store.
At the bottom of the Nook Store page is a Search field.

Tap inside the Search field.
A keypad appears on the screen.

Enter "Facebook App" in the Search field.

Review the search results.
When you tap a search result, such as FriendCaster for Facebook, a page opens with an overview of the application and customer reviews.

Tap the price button for the Facebook app you want to install on your Nook.
If it is a free app, the button will be labeled "Free."

Tap "Confirm," and the Facebook app you chose automatically downloads and installs on your device. Tap the "App" icon in the Quick Nav Bar to find apps you've added to your Nook.

I need microsoft windows xp service pack 2 how can i reinstall that..?

If you need to uninstall a bad Service Pack 2, go to Start, Click on the Control Panel option. In the Control Panel, click on Add/Remoce Programs. In the Add or Remove Programs screen, check the box at top for "Show Updates." Scroll down to Windows XP Service Pack 2 and click on remove. Then follow the onscreen instructions
Now the safest way to get a new Service Pack 2 would be to go to Start > Control Panel > Automatic Updates and then click on Install updates from the Windows Update Web Site (but before you select that, you might want to click on Automatic (recommended) so that Windows will update itself from now on). Anyway, after you click on Install updates from the Windows Update Web SIte, internet explorer will open and take you to the website and it will want to run an Activ-X control, click on the yellow bar that appears and click install. On the gray "Express" box this will cause it to look for updates that you NEED and it will install them. If you're using a laptop make sure you have it plugged into the wall, ifyou're battery dies during installation you can destroy your installation of Windows.

Hi! I bought Garmin 265W sat nav with full EU mapping. Are the EU maps preloaded or do I have to download them from the internet myself? There was nothing in the pack (apart of course charger, nav unit,...

The maps are preloaded. If you want to see what maps are on it press TOOLS (the spanner symbol)
Then press SETTINGS (or LOCALE if your model does not have SETTINGS)
Then press MAPS
Then press MAP INFO
The name of the map installed on your satnav should be shown there

Cannot get any sound on sat nav can I push the reset buuton at bnottom or would I lose maps etc. Thanks

there are 3 possible causes for this,
1: tap the bottom left of the screen and move the slide bar to the right to increase volume
2: go into set up menu and see if you have switched off the speaker. If you have, it will show a picture of a speaker with a big red cross through it.
3:You will only get spoken directions if you have selected the "computer voice" option. All other voices will disable this function.
I hope this is of some help

It is probably a driver issue. First check the device manager, from the Control Panel. A red triangle with an X or a yellow triangle with an exclamation point indicate that the issue is with the driver. will let you search for your model and download the XP sound driver.

The specific driver may be: (using the Satellite Pro U400-S1001V above)

I hope this helps.

I purchased a 2002 Range Rover Borrego recently.

I have experienced many electical demons with all my British cars. The nav units can and do fail. I had a goofy one this summer and the only way it got fixed was to replace it. The module not the head unit

The yahoo games is not loading the applet why is that

JavaScript are fully enabled in your browser. Follow the steps below for your browser:

Netscape 4.XX or newer for Windows, Mac, or Linux

Click "Edit" in the menu bar, and then select "Preferences."
Click the word "Advanced" and put checks in the boxes next to "Enable Java" and "Enable JavaScript."
Internet Explorer 4.XX for Windows

Click "View" in the menu bar, and then select "Internet Options."
Click the "Security" tab.
For the Internet Zone, be sure that the Security level is set to "Medium" or below. (If you 've chosen to customize your Security settings for the Internet zone, be sure that under the Java heading, "Java permissions" is not set to "Disable Java." You'll want to select one of the three safety levels instead. Also be sure that under the Scripting heading, "Scripting of Java Applets" is set to "Enable" or "Prompt.")
Next, click the "Advanced" tab.
Scroll down until you see the subheading "Java VM."
Check the boxes next to "Java logging enabled" and "Java console enabled." (Note: If you've checked the box next to "Java JIT compiler enabled" and are experiencing freezing problems, uncheck that box.)
Internet Explorer 5.XX or 6.XX for Windows

Note to Windows XP users

By default, the Windows XP operating system comes with the Internet Explorer 6 browser without the Java Virtual Machine (JVM) installed, which is required to run Java programs such as Yahoo! Games.

If you install Windows XP over an existing installation of Windows that already has Internet Explorer with a JVM installed, then you should be able to play just fine.

At this time, Microsoft no longer provides a download of the JVM if you do not already have it installed. You're welcome to contact them for information on where to find and download this program.

However, you have the option to download Sun's Java plug-in by visiting…

Sun is the creator of Java, and their plug-in will allow you to play Yahoo! Games.

Internet Explorer 4.5 or 5 for Macintosh OS 8-9

Select "Edit" from your menu bar and choose "Preferences..."
Then, click the "Java" bullet within the Web Browser section.
Make sure that the "Enable Java" box is checked.
Internet Explorer 5 for Macintosh OS X

Select "Preferences" from the "Explorer" menu.
Select "Java" from the left navigation bar.
Place a check-mark next to "Enable Java."
You may also want to clear your cache and restart your browser.

If you continue to have problems, double-check your computer's compatibility with Yahoo! Games. Source(s): Yahoo games help page

Can we install xp SERVICE PACK 2 in sony VGN CR220E LAPTOP

With hundreds of operating system installs under my belt, I have yet to encounter a modern computer (under ten years old) that I couldn't install XP with sp2 onto. Is there any reason why you are concerned? As long as you have enough hard drive space and enough ram you should be fine. What you must remember is that you need to install the Sony drivers for your computer after the install of XP. Sony has a great support site, and if you do not have them on disk, they are easy to download from their site. They even have a tool that will scan your computer and provide you with a list of the drivers you need for your particular model. Just go to this page (copy the link into your browser's address bar if this link isn't active):

Just enter the model number and get yoru drivers. I would do this before you do your fresh install of XP. Of course, you will need to save the drivers on something other than your hard drive. It sounds like an obvious thing to do, but I just want to be thorough. OK then. Take care.
