Do you want cheap or good quality. you get what you pay for. MK gel batteries are by far the most superior but pricy, INTERSTATE is good middle of the road, i like their glass mat type for value V price. others are a **** shoot cause they are low price, you are paying for lead content, priced metals these days?

SOURCE: oil / gel leak

If it is coming from your motors, it could be very bad. i.e. motor replacement. Sometimes on the side of those motors there is a black plastic cap about the size of a quarter or half dollar, those fall out sometimes and allow gearbox grease to come out. This should`nt be confused with your motor brush caps which are about the size of a pea and have a small **** in them for a screwdriver.DO NOT TAKE THESE OUT.  If the large cap has come out just stick it back in. If you can`t find it you`ll ned to call a dealer to get the part replaced.    If you can still find no prob, your probably going to have to go to a dealer.

SOURCE: PRONTO M51 FEELS LIKE I AM DRIVING OVER ROUGH ROAD

If you chair was down for a long time before getting new batteries the tires could have developed flat spots on them. Also could have brush problems in the motors that make the motors run jerky from sitting too long.

SOURCE: will gel cell batteries work

Sure they will but according to MK batteries good AGM atteries will perform just as well and for less cost. And thats probably why they told you that. They don't want to incur the higher cost because Medicare will only pay so much for the replacement batteries. Hope this helps you

I have a Pronto M51 batteries are good and unit operates IN a very short time the unit will slow down to almost stop and a little growling Ideas? maybe motors?

I am wondering how you know the batteries are good?

Many problems are battery related and it is important never to assume anything about battery condition before moving on to further checks.

It is important to check the terminal voltage under load before declaring a battery is good - even the ancient and relatively crude technology of lead acid batteries can fool even modern chargers and the sealed gel-type batteries have a reputation of suddenly failing without warning.
Operate the chair until it almost stops and check the voltage while keeping the load on.

While it is possible one motor might give trouble it is most unlikely two will give the same trouble at the same time. Controllers do give trouble sometimes but usually they either work or don't work...

I am getting a flashing green light when I try to charge my batteries on the Pronto M51 what does this mean

why did you change the batteries, did you verify that it wasn't the charger in the first place, sometime the charger will appear to charge but actually isn't. put a meter on one battery then plug in charger if voltage goes up charger is good if not look for loose connections and or bad charger.

Where can I purchase a new battery for this model? What type of battery do I need- difficult to read information on the actual battery itself. Thank you

The Invacare Pronto M51 takes two size U-1 batteries. There may be some prefix letters but the battery size is U-1. They can be purchased on-line or locally at a big discount so shop around. I have seen them discounted at $40 each but you need to be careful that you get the correct type. You are looking for deep cycle sealed lead acid batteries. The AGM (advanced glass mat) is preferable for longevity and will cost more.
This is a very popular battery and should be in stock at most places. Make sure to check the date code on the battery to get fresh ones. The way to read the date code is a little tricky. The sticker will, for example, have a date code of H9. This battery was manufactured on the H month or 8th month or August of 2009. In this example, you do not want to purchase this battery. You do not want to purchase a battery that has been sitting around for more than 3 months. Hope this helps.

Only 1 battery charges

The lights are working, the batteries aren't. Red indicates power to the charger, and it should be on all the time. Green indicates a full charge, usually. If one or both of the batteries are totally dead, then the charger can't "see" them, and you will get a green light, but you will have dead batteries.

All power chairs use sealed, deep-cycle batteries. Deep cycle batteries, are designed for slow amperage dischare over a long time period, unlike a car battery that throws out a lot of amperage for turning the motor over. That's called "cold-cranking amps", and you can load-test a car battery to see if it will throw out a ton of amps for long enough to start a car. There is NO load tester made, or possible for a deep-cycle battery. A load test requires a 24-hour time period, and a complicated formula.

So, your course is to get some fresh, gel-sealed-batteries. You will need type U-1. Specify, gel-sealed-batteries when you go to the battery shop. A fresh set should get the chair up to about 12-16 mile range, which would be about 3-4 hours running constantly at high speed. Good luck.
