Question about Nikon COOLPIX L4 Digital Camera

Can't upload pictures to laptop

I've been trying to upload some pictures onto my Compaq Presario laptop from my Nikon Coolpix L4 through a Kodak SD memory card and everytime I insert it nothing happens..It reads it but says it's not formatted for my laptop. Then when I try to format it, it says it will delete everything on it...which I don't want. I would try to upload via USB but I lost my cord...Please help me!

I HAVE A NIKON S550, AND HAVE THE SAME PROBLEM. DID YOU TRIED TO SEE THE PICTURRES IN THE CAMERA ITSELF?
MINE DOESN'T EVEN WORK THERE. IT ALSO ASKS ME TO FORMAT THE SD CARD. I THINK THE PROBLEM STARTED WHEN I TRIED TO TRANSFER THE PICTURES IN THE SD CARD USING A DIFFERENT CAMERA TO UPLOAD IN THE COMPUTER. NEED SOMEONE TO TELL US IF THERE'S ANOTHER WAY TO RETREIVE THESE PICTURES.

The computer doesn't know what the camera is without the software. You can download the software from the nikon website. Easier fixes are available. If it is a notebook (laptops arent laptops anymore more) you should have a card reader slot on the left side of your computer. Remove the SD card from the camera and plug it into their computer. Then you'll have the option to import the pictures.

this is a very odd problem, I have the same camera and it works fine, your best bet is to buy a usb SD memory card dongle. they are about 14 dollars, this will solve your problem with the photos, but I don't know why your camera won't work properly with the cable., have you tried it with the cable on your friends computer?

The L4 and its software will work with any size SD cards. Make sure you get SD cards, not SDHC cards. SD cards go up to 2GB, while SDHC cards start at 4GB and go up.

File contains no image data

If you format, you will lose everything...format means erase and optimize. Take your card to a store like Walmart that has a Kodak picture maker machine. It will usually read all the pics on a card and you can make a cd of them on the machine.

Out of memory on Nikon Coolpix L18 camera

I noticed that, after dumping the full SD card onto my computer, I didn't seat it perfectly back in the camera (my finger bottomed out on the batteries before the memory card 'clicked' into place. With the camera unable to see the SD card, it defaulted to the internal memory, which is very small.

I got the SD card seated fully and the "Out of Memory" message went away.

You should be able to use SD cards up to 2GB. Don't go any larger; those are SDHC cards and will not work in the L4.

Uploading pictures back onto my camera

Hey hapurves,
Uploading your images should not remove the images from your memory card. If your images are no longer on your memory card the card has most likely been formatted. You could try connecting the memory card to your laptop with a card reader and under My Computer right click on the icon for your memory card and select open. Now you could try copying the images you want back on the memory card and pasting them into a folder on the memory card. I hope this helps!

Sincerely,
Allan

I want to upload pictures from my camera to the computer nikon coolpix 2100

You must have a software in your computer to read the pictures. It can be kodak easy share, hp photo smart, or any photosmart software. This softwares might be available in the brands website for free.
Your computer needs a photo program to upload your pictures.

One easy way is to go to a store with photo service and have your camera card pictures put on a CD. This CD usually brings photo programs sofware and you will be able to use them next time from your camera into the program then into the computer.
