Error 99 on Canon SLR Cameras

this is the way you can fix error 99 on canon SLR cameras

Read this

This is what the people at the canon tech support say to do for error 99

read this!! :)

The guy at tech support listened and then told me that the lens contacts were dirty and to get a pencil with an eraser on the end, just a regular old pencil with a red rubber eraser. Detach the lens from the camera, hold it so that the lens’ gold contacts are pointing down and lightly erase their exposed surface, cleaning them of any hand oil that might have gotten on them.

Do the same thing with the gold contacts inside the camera body. This is a bit harder but it’s doable: just hold camera so lens opening points down so no gunk falls in. Erase lightly. I used a lens cloth and dabbed at the contacts rather than blow them so as not to blow the erasings inside the camera.

I did this to each of my three lenses just to be sure. Lo and behold, it worked

hope this works for you!!!! have a nice day!! :) :)

Windows\system32\drivers\viamraid.sys missing

If you have a windows install disk, then download active kill disk.

You need to erase the hard drive the right way, you don\'t format from NTFS to NTFS to erase a HDD.

Here is a free eraser, but you need to burn it to a **** and boot to it so it runs in DOS.
http://how-to-erase-hard-drive.com/downloadfree.htm

You can also go to Western digital and use the tools for HDD to erase.
Once the HDD is erased, your clear CMOS, reset the setting in the BIOS such as boot order, you should be able to reinstall windows and install all the correct drivers.

I've been using the Canon 75-300 zoom with my Canon 450D for well over a year. In the past two days I have received Error-01 lens communication error on numerous occasions, especially if I attempt to take ...

The pencil eraser trick works although Canon repair say don't use this method yet behind closed doors they do the vary same thing. Just make sure you have cleaned the gold contacts well of eraser dust with a lens cloth not a tissue. The reason you should use a new clean eraser is because it hasn't been used for its intended purpose and you haven't just successfully transferred pencil lead, ink and bleach to the contact surface. Use a new eraser only and if the problem still hinders you then I would suggest upgrading your camera firmware which is a free download from the Canon site. As the camera can't talk to you the only way of communicating a problem is through error codes however there isn't enough error codes to cover all possibilities. This meaning that the lens connection may be what the book said but in fact it could be a battery connection problem as well OR if you have a battery grip the contacts there can also give a little head ache. Clean them all and then do the firmware update and you will be back into the photography in no time cheers have a great day

Error code 928 service erase lamps

Erase Lamp Service Check (010/212/414/616)
Error code 928 may be displayed when the printer detects that the erase lamp assembly, cable or engine board is defective.
Note: If the erase lamp assembly is defective, both the erase lamp and lens are replaced as a kit. Models 41b/41e/41l and any model at service level B do not have erase lamps installed. Go to "Printer Serial Label" on page 7-2 to identify the printer service level. Make the following checks when a 928 service error displays.

1 Cable, Front Harness
Check the connection of the front harness to connector J10 on the engine board for correct installation. If incorrect, repair as necessary.Check the front harness to erase lamp assembly for correct
installation. If incorrect, repair as necessary.

2 Engine Board Remove the controller board and toner cartridge from the machine. Ground pin J10-15. The erase lamps turn on. The lamps can be observed through the front of the machine with
the cover open and print cartridge removed. If the lamps do not turn on, measure the voltage on J10-14. The voltage reads approximately +24 V dc. If incorrect, replace the engine board. If correct, check the voltage at J10-15. The voltage reads between +15 V dc to +20 V dc. If incorrect, check the continuity of the erase lamp lines in the main harness. If incorrect, replace the cable harness. If correct, replace the erase lamp assembly.

SVC EL ERROR appears on the display

The SVC EL error on the 8008 indicates an 'ERASE LAMP' error.
The erase lamp in the 8008 is situated below the OPC belt in the printer, as a step to fixing the problem I would suggest removing the OPC belt from the printer, and taking suitable precautions to protect it from light and damage.

Then clean the area under the OPC belt in the printer to remove any stray toner.

Then test the printer, if the problem persists I would recommend having a suitably qualified engineer look at the printer. To check the Erase LED array is connected correctly and is functioning correctly.
