First I would have posted this in the washer section not the vacuum section. That being said:
This is normal for a maytag Neptune. There is a liquid filled balance ring on the Neptune washer drum. That is the sloshing you are hearing. The smell is from the water trapped between the door seal and drum. You can wipe down this seal with an old cotton towel or sock and then throw it in with your next load. Also, just leave your door open a crack after your loads are done and the water will evaporate and not sit and get moldy.
the washer has a low level of water in it at all times. it will never completely drain out unless you pump it. this is one of the reasons there is such a smell with these washers, i use vinegar in rinse cycle and i use bleach once sometimes twice a month to keep mold and mildew smell away.
Maytag Appliances are ****!! Don't buy Maytag. Spent $2500.00 in 2005 on Maytag Neptune washer and dryer. They have been nothing but trouble. Washer has water running in tub constantly. Recall on ground and recall on footing. Dryer making loud noise when drying clothes. The Maytag man is dead and gone.
hello i am a appliance repair man. do you was a lot of sandy cloths? what is happened is your seals are bad on the washer. i bet the sales men told you when you bought it that you could fill it plum full. its not true. i have seen this machine in and out of my shop so many times its not funny. by the way if you do fix it please put a surge protector on your machine. trust me it will save you more headaches. if you have any more questions feel free to email me at email@example.com. next time you buy an appliance call a repair man and ask them what kind of problems that the appliance has first.
