SOURCE: makita dc1804f charger will not charge new i-mh 1834 18v battery

I think your tryiong to charge NIMH batteries oon a charger designed for Lithium Ion batteries. With all the new style batteries such as NICAD, NIMH and LI-ION, charging becomes difficult. Most chargers pre NIMH and LI-ion, were designed for NICAD's. The best advise, match your batteries with the correct charger

Sorry Mate your battery is dead...
The makita lithium batterys dont like getting worked hard quickly.
There is a chip in them that recognice each battery to each specific charger. Try another charger. This has not worked for me. Try anyway

SOURCE: I have two drills, two

I have to agree, I assume you have tried the the same battery on both chargers? is it possible that one charger ruined all the batteries? I wish I could offer some real help other then to say "hmm." But my best guess is that one charger ruined all the batteries. unless you use them both at the same time, then it would be hard to have them all quit at once. -

My charger only charges for 3 min then green light comes on saying it's fully charged

You could disassemble the battery and replace only the small 6 or 8 accumulators inside. Pay attention to the correct wirings. I replace the original accus NiMh with Li-ion and another charger, off course.

Red and green flashing lights on 18v lxt charger

Batteries don't always look degraded but if they've been in use for a while or have a bad cell, they will show up bad on the charger and it won't charge them. The only way to test the batteries is to try to charge them on another charger. If the batteries show defective on another charger, they are bad and you'll have to replace them. Also try to charge some batteries you know to be good on your charger to see if it's the problem. If your batteries charge on another charger, your current charger is bad and they don't have any replaceable parts in them so you'd be looking at replacing it.

What does a red blinking light mean on a makita dc1804 charger?

I would clean the contacts on the battery to be charged and the charger. You can do this with a discharged battery and the charger unplugged usins a small mechanics wire brush, they can be had made like a tooth brush and work well for tight places. Gently brush and then blow out with air. Make sure that battery is firmly seated in charger and if light continues to flash you probably need a new battery. Thank you.

Faullty makita DC1804T charger red lights keeps flashig and wont turn green.

I think if you have a battery that is pretty much dead, the Makita charger will never fully charge it and so it blinks. My newer battery charged up in 1/2 an hour but my old-as-the-hills one just keeps on blinking. I removed it and it works. It never really held a charge long though, for years now. It would be nice if the charger had some kind of manual telling you what all those universal symbols(I don't know who's universe they're talking about) mean.

Switch and bateries

Makita makes two 12V Ni-Cad pod batteries: Battery 1222/2.0Ah (PN: 192598-2) and Battery 1220/1.3Ah (PN: 192681-5). Makita's universal charger (PN: DC1804) will charge any Ni-MH or Ni-Cad pod or stick battery from 7.2V to 18V.

MAKITA LXT BL1830 18V LITHIUM-ION 3.0AH BATTERY

If the charge count on the batteries is under 300, Makita will replace them. Makita has a known defect in this battery that causes the battery to shut down before it is dead. So as of now they are exchanging ones with low use.

If they are truly defective and makita won't replace, you have to open them, find the dead cell or blown fuse, and replace. Search youtube makita battery for a video on repairing this battery. But once the red and green lights on the charger flash, the the battery can't be charged on a Makita charger -- it's been locked. So use a third party charger.
