Question about D-Link AirPlus DI-524 Wireless Router

D-Link DI-524 won't resolve address

My D-Link DI-524 Rev C router will not resolve my website (ledotax.com). I have tried upgrading firmware, resetting to facotry defaults, changing the DNS to openDNS, etc and still I return a "timeout" error anytime I try to access my website.

Yes I can access other sites. I've tried flushing my DNS. I've removed the router and wired directly into the modem and everything works fine so the error has to be with the router. I assumne that I need to clear the DNS cache on the router, but I have yet to figure out how to do that with this router.

No. I just get 'Request timed out'.

It may not be your router, it could be your computer.
Computers keep track of sites they have been to so that they don't have to do a dns request every time - makes things a little fast. Sometimes the cache can become corrupt or the IP address changes.

Hold down the Windows Key on you keyboard and press the letter R at the same time, a window will open, type in CMD and then click OK. A black window will open, please type:

ipconfig /flushdns

Now press the Enter key
Try going to your site now.

D-Link DI-514 Router Firmware Upgrade Error Message

This is an old post, but just in case someone else needs this...

The dlink website for the Di 514 rev B version actually links to the rev C versions' firmware. I got the same error.

browse to here ftp://ftp.dlink.com/Gateway and grab the right version for your rev B device.

Best,

Kevin

Go to the following website to download the firmware update for the DL-524. This will save the firmware update to your harddrive:

http://www.dlink.com.au/tech/Download/download.aspx?product=DI-524&revision=REV_B&filetype=Firmware

1. Open the web browser
2. Type in the IP address of the DL-524 router.
3. Type admin in the user name field
4. Type the password you set on this device
5. Click on the Tools tab
6. Click the browse button and locate the firmware file you downloaded and saved to your hard drive.
7. Click the apply button to complete the firmware upgrade.

DI-524 status problem

Did this happen after a firmware upgrade? If so, this link may help:

http://borgetech.blogspot.com/2007/09/d-link-di-524-revision-b4-status-light.html

Apparently there's a utility which will force firmware to load on the router. The steps are a bit technical, though.

If that doesn't work, the router is probably toast. Time for a new one.

DI 524 Frequent Wireless Network Loss

Try changing the channel of your router ex (channel 1-6-11). Since you upgrade the firmware of your router you need to reset it to factory default and reconfigure everything so the new firmware will take effect.

Di-524 setup

Reset the DI-524 to its factory default settings and restore the other devices on your network to their default settings. You may do this by pressing the Reset button on the back of the unit. You will lose the current configuration settings. Also be sure to unplug the modem the plug it back in afterwards, a reboot of all devices on network maybe good idea also.
