First go full bare-bones...only video, keyboard, mouse turned on in BIOS. then re-install windows. if still no good repeat above steps except to add this step just before windows: run fdisk to re-partition the drive and then run format using the svs switch...then re-windows. if successful, then turn on system restore to create a restore point and re-boot before any new devices are added to system

Error message on dv 1000 pxe-mof and pxe-e61

The error PXE-E61: Media test failure usually means the hard disk has failed or the hard disk needs re-seating or the disk controller is faulty. First - re-seat the hard disk and reboot the computer. If the computer does not boot up then reboot and go into the BIOS configuration to see if the BIOS detects the hard drive. If it doesn't detect the hard drive then it could be faulty.
Then the hard drive needs to be replaced in the computer/laptop, Windows installed and the computer or laptop's device drivers plus your programs etc. to get a functioning computer/laptop again.

Toshiba satellite L455D-S5976 PXE-E61 media test failure...brand new hard drive What do I do???

You need to boot from an installation CD for the operating system, or the Toshiba restore set. New hard drives are completely blank when you purchase them. The computer is looking for something to boot from and cant find it, so it trys to boot from ethernet. Check your bios set up for boot order and boot devices. You might try disabling boot from network.

Hope this helps

the system is trying to boot to the Network adapter. If the system boots into Windows after the error, then all you need to do is change the boot sequence in the BIOS (Resetting defaults will likely fix this)
If system is not booting into windows after the error then you may have a hard drive fault

Not always the Hard drive, boot into the bios setup utility and de-select network bootfrom the boot options. If it tries to network boot first you will always get that failure.
