This is a Soltek board. Check the capacitors near the CPU and also near the memory/AGP slot to see if any are buldging. If so they can be replaced but this is not the type of repair for the inexperienced.

Hope that helps =)

SOURCE: got a soltek sl-k8av2 rl upgrading RAM

The motherboard takes DDR 400 ram so make sure you dont put anything higher than this in.

At present i am using 2 x 512MB DIMM's, but am unsure if it will take 2 x 1024MB DIMM's. If it does, it may require a BIOS update (1.6 is the latest but 1.5 is readily available through a google search).

When you get the beep, are you still able to get into the BIOS? It might be worth checking what speed the RAM is set to. It should default to AUTO. If you need to clear your BIOS then look closely at the motherboard for JMPR1/JMP1/CLRCMOS in small white writing on the PCB.

Good luck :]

SOLTEK has gone bankrupt.
Their web-site is "down".
So, there is *NO* "support" available from SOLTEK.

SATA Hard Drive(s) problem with Soltek SL-K8AV2-RL Motherboard

You must go to the motherboard manufacturers website (or it may possibly be on the CD that came with the board), and get the SATA drivers for windows to create a diskette (yes, a 3.5" floppy disk). When you first enter the windows setup screen at the bottom a message appears about hitting F6 to load 3rd party drivers, you have to do this. After a while a screen will show up and ask you for the drivers. Put in the floppy and hit S, then it should come up with a list of drivers allowing you to select the right one. Windows XP will ONLY look on the "A" drive for these drivers. Hope this helps
