Can you please recheck that model number? That number is coming up as a coffee maker. Look inside the refrigerator section for the model number.

SOURCE: Ice maker stoped working

Ice maker Diagnostic Test:

- Remove the ice bucket
-Turn the ice maker off, wait 15 seconds than turn it back on
-Press the ice paddle three times, this will begin diagnostic test.
-PLEASE DO NOT TOUCH ICE MAKER DURING DIAGNOSTICS

-In 3 minutes you should see the rack inside turn 360 degrees
-AND the ice maker bowl should fill with water

-IF either DID NOT work, call 1-800-GE-CARES for ice maker replacement. A service call is approx $80. The $80 will be deducted from the part/labor if you choose to purchase/install parts from the service technician. If not, you will pay for the service call. Good luck.

SOURCE: Ice Maker Won't Stop Making Ice

There is an adjustment for the "harvest" bar (The bar you lifted up). That bar you are lifting up tells the ice-maker that the cubes have fallen into the ice storage and starts the ice-making cycle over. It is also the Limit switch for the ice level in the storage container ... if it stays up for preset time determined by the manufacturer it stops making ice... most all ice-machines use the same devices. they vary little in design. Sometimes you can just gently bend the bar down to the point where it turns-off the machine at the level you want ... unless you can get to the adjustment hinge you can adust it there. For the fact it goes off when you lift it all the way up tells me the harvest switch is turning the ice-maker off.

SOURCE: Ice maker grinding sound

I had the same and found the same solution. Chances are the problem will come back. Just over a week ago (when it was freezing cold in Florida) I took everything out of the fridge and freezer, unplugged it, even pointed a hair dryer in the ice unit. Once I was done it was completely defrosted and dry. I have not heard anything since - and I can sleep again ;-).

SOURCE: GE Profile refrigerator ice maker stopped working

I had the same problem where one of the solinoids in the valve- the one controlling water to the ice machine had stopped working. A good test is to pour water into where the ice cubes are made. If ice cubes come out then the problem is most likely in the valve. I replaced my valve for the second time in 8 years today and the ice is comming out nicely.

I have a GSS25WGTA GE ice maker. The arm on the ice maker won't reset after it dumps ice. I have to manually do it every time. Is there an inexpensive fix for this?

If you find a way to add a weight to the arm to make it drop down it cheap. what may work is a peice of metal attached to arm.IT MUST be stainless steel so it doesnt rust in the freezer with all the moisture then all your ice has rust in it
other than that icemaker has to be replaced

Ice maker will not stop, even when the tray is full of cubes.. will only stop if arm is put up..

The ice tray arm is mechanical. It is pushed up by the ice cubes. Try bending the arm down so it makes contact with the ice cubes sooner and gets pushed up sooner when it reaches up posistion it should stop.

Ice maker on GE Profile quit working. Emptied tray of ice and put back in, not producing any ice.

Make sure the "Full" actuator is in the down position. Sometimes when the ice tray is removed, the full actuator flips up to stop ice production.
Hope this helps.

Ice maker doesnt stop making ice

Check with an identical unit to see how that one moves. Yours may be dislocated. The lever arm probably contacts small plastic parts in the timer that could be out of place. Ice makers aren't too tough to take out and check out in a more comfortable work location. Just put a towel to catch screws.

Ge Profile side by side refrigerator 2002

Most likely nothing broken. Just pull out the ice bucket. You will see a metal rod along the bottom area that protrudes into a hole in the back of the freezer. That gizmo has to move up and down freely to set the crusher / cube arm in the correct position. You should be able to move it up and down with your finger. If not, it may be frozen, or have a bad solenoid.
