My USB-250 GB toshiba unit is not showing up on my desktop
Hello, I have a USB-250GB toshiba external drive model: hddr250e03xI used for my MAC and PC as well, it was working well, but recently when I connect it it tells me that the device is creating a current over power and the port is going to be closed. If I use a different connecting cord, it does not give me the error message, but the blue light comes on and there is just a very faint sound of a fan, but the icon does not show up in my desktop. I tried it with my two computers and its the same. I really need to retrieve my files and I would appreciate any help you can give me about this. Thank you so much!,Sofia

It may not work because the BIOS may not support a hard drive with this large capacity. Check the specification of your computer. The other option is to install it and then check the BIOS. If you install this hard drive in a USB hard drive adapter case, and plug it into the USB port, most likely it will see it as and external storage device with over 200 GB capacity. You lose a small capacity when you format the hard drive.
You can connect the Seagate 250 Gb external Free Agent disk by using a Usb connector and connect it to the USB port of your Laptop. In this way you can connect the disk to your Laptop computer without breaking it.
Windows will automatically detect the the drive and can be browsed through Windows Explorer as a separate drive.
