Hi!
In the Device Manager my SONY DVD RW AW-G170A
is marked with a yello "!". It is connected and
loads the DVD in the tray, but nothing else happens.
If I check it`s properties, the Device status is:
Windows successfully loaded the device driver for this hardware but cannot find the hardware device. (Code 41)
Device instance ID:
IDE\CDROMSONY_DVD_RW_AW-G170A____________________1.71____\5&154A5220&0&0.0.0
Same is for this one:
ZE3230H BKN262T SCSI CdRom Device
Device instance ID:
SCSI\CDROM&VEN_ZE3230H&PROD_BKN262T&REV_1.0\5&C16B70E&0&000
There is also a question mark at: Other devices...
Mass Storage Controller
This device is not configured correctly. (Code 1)
To reinstall the drivers for this device, click Reinstall Driver.
(I cannot find this)
I have XP64 on a Striker Extreme board with a QX6700...
Pleace help!

this worked for me with no need to reboot onwindows XP
start run regedit then open HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Class\{4D36E965-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318}
delete the 2 filter entries (right click delete) then open control panel and in system, hardware tab,
device manager uninstall the cd drive that is giving you trouble then from the menu choose action,
scan for hardware changes and your cd should appear and be usable hope this helps
