Question about Brother MFC 1970MC All-In-One InkJet Printer

1 Answer

How do you change the transmitting speed from 14,400 to 9600 ?

Hi I the brother MFC 1970 model. I need to know exactly how to change the transmission speed from 14,400 kbps to 9600 so i can send and receive a fax with comwave.ca with their Grandstream Modem. I am with Shaw Internet here in B.C. Canada and have a Linksys Router. I think i am all set to go, except for the changing of the speed to 9600. Apparently this is the required speed in order for all the 'packets' to be able to be transmitted and received. Can you help? Appreciate your answer. Thank You,

Kind Regards,
Nathan

    Yes, Hi

This is true, I also ended up contacting brother and there is no mechanism to change the baud rate from 14,400 to 9600 on this machine, so i had to use another one.

    Thanks Again for your help.

    Kind Regards,
    Nathan

Fax machines are ANALOG devices, your fax will not work reliably on a DIGITAL phone line. There are no analog packets.

How do i change a speed dial number on my brother mfc-7340?

Changes to the contents stored in the address book do not become effective in the stored speed dial numbers in Windows®. Description:If you have made a change to the contents stored in the address book, the speed-dial is NOT automatically updated.

If you change the address book entry, please follow the steps below to store the speed dial number again.

How to change fax speed from14.4 to 9600

The machine does this automatically on connection. It negotiates a reliable connection speed with the recipient machine and then transmits data. If in encounters an error repeatedly it will negotiate the speed down even further until the data can be sent successfully. However the following menu setup option may help

Main MenuFaxSetup SendOverseas ModeOn will change the speed down to 9600 max and negotiate downwards if required.

You can use the Windows NT4 drivers located at http://www.brother.com/E-ftp/info/mfc/mfc970mc.html. Most likely you will need a parallel printer cable (D25 Male to C36 Male).
