Question about SanDisk Sansa e260 MP3 Player

1 Answer

White screen only on E260 4 GB-cannot get to the menu or anything

Hi-
On the E series players, how do you turn the volume up?
I see the normal and high but the sound itself is not adjustable.
We are trying to play it in an air hockey arcade game, just plugs into the unit-I can hear the music but
Very very low, not enough to know what song is even playing.

Another question on the 4 GB (My daughters).
She had it charged all day, but the screen is all “white”.
Totally white, pressing all the buttons does not change the screen at all.
Completely white, I cannot get the sansa menu to appear at all.

Her unit iwas purchased end of Dember 2006.
Could this just be replacing the battery fix?

Thank-you for your help on this.

Adjust the volume while playing by "turning" the thumbwheel. Go clockwise to increase, counterclockwise to decrease.

you can use 4GB it is the applicable memory on your mp3.
if you will try to use much higher than 4gb sometimes it is the reason why our player are hanging up.

SOURCE: I cannot add videos to my sansa e260 4 GB media player

Are you syncing the videos through Sansa Media Converter? This is the only program that will work to put video on the E200 series Sansa's.

If you are using SMC try using "Any Video Converter" to make the mp4's then sync them through SMC.

SOURCE: trying to add 4 GB microSDHC card to sandisk sansa

Hello,

The player automatically connects to the computer in Media Transfer Protocol mode (MTP mode).
For accessing the microSD card in the player, the USB connection in the player has to be set to MSC mode, see:
http://kb.sandisk.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/167

How to change USB mode for the e200 series, proceed as next:
1. From the Main Menu, select Settings > USB Mode.
2. Select Auto Detect, MTP or MSC.

Try
  1. Toggle the Hold switch on and off. (Slide it to Hold, then turn it off again.)
  2. Press and hold the Menu and Center (Select) buttons simultaneously until the Apple logo appears, about 6 to 8 seconds. You may need to repeat this step.

White Screen??

Try this: disconnect the player from the computer, turn it off, hold in the volume + button, and reconnect the player to the computer while holding the volume + button in. Keep holding the volume + button for an additional 5-50 seconds. Windows should eventually go into recovery mode and revive the player- it will pop up a window that says Found New Hardware Wizard

Cant hear anything

Try different headphones, see if they work. Also, go into the audio settings menu, and make sure all of the audio settings are kosher.

As for the Invion...it is normal for an mp3 player to do "something" when you unplug it from computer - turn on, update, turn off when you disconnect it from computer, etc. It is not normal for you to get power ONLY when you are connected to computer. After disconnecting from computer, try turning the mp3 player back on - does it turn on? Make sure it is fully charged, of course.

If it won't turn on outside of plugging it into computer, then hold in the volume + button before you reconnect it to computer and continue holding it for 10-30 seconds after reconnecting - Windows will try to reload any missing drivers/software. If the problem persists, I would find out if your mp3 player is still in warranty, b/c it will need to be replaced.

Screen Troubles

Sounds like the LCD controller has gone bad - must be replaced.

Try every "soft fix" first to be sure:
*Reset - button on side
*Firmware Upgrade (sounds like you tried it)
*Reformat the player -p.68 of manual - available on iRiver website if lost - enter model as H300 series
*Recovery -
Try this: disconnect the player from the computer, turn it off, hold in the volume + button, and reconnect the player to the computer while holding the volume + button in. Keep holding the volume + button for an additional 5-50 seconds. Windows should eventually go into recovery mode and revive the player- it will pop up a window that says Found New Hardware Wizard.

Try a hard RESET by holding the POWER and the MENU for about 15 to 20 seconds. That may reset the player back to the factory settings.
