Question about Dell OptiPlex GX520 PC Desktop
When i try to turn on it seams that it is only getting half power.the cd rom drive opens and closes and the blue lights are on but no video on monitor

If the drives share the same IDE cable, try to replace the cable and make certain it is seated properly on the motherboard. Check for bent pins on either drive and on the motherboard IDE connector. Sometimes pins (especially near either end of the 2 rows of 20 pins) will bend under if they are not lined up with the IDE cable. Also check that nothing changed on the Jumper positions on the drives. They should be set to Master if both drives are single and Master (hard drive) and Slave (CDROM) if they share the same cable.

Since you are using Dell Dimension 9100 ran a memory diagnostic for the blue screen. If you have 2 memory modules ,try reseating memory module and using 1 memory module to boot the system and then try to reinstall OS. If issue persist then replace memory with a different memory module, boot the system using dell resource cd or create bootable cd in DOS. The using windows XP reinstallation cd try to reinstall OS.
Try the DEBUG as the last option.Good Luck.

SOURCE: Monitor does not light up
1. try the monitor on another system.
Did not work?
2. you need a replacement card inside the monitor this card is where the vga cable connects to the monitor.
3. you have a bad connection or solder joint inside the monitor.
4. if it does work on aother computer check your current computers video card.
