SOURCE: NTERMITTENT STALLING AND STARTING.
A very common for these problems is a leaking fuel pressure regulator. This leaks gas and causes extended crank times, stalling, and check engine light.

2000 Olds Intrigue, 127K miles, intermittent problems starting. Usually only first start of day, but recently occasionally acts as if it wants to stall out when idle at stops. Not a starter problem as engine fires/chugs and stalls out. Takes about 8-10 tries to start. Service engine light is on and code is for evap emissions leak. I can hear a hissing under hood near firewall after turning engine off.
Any ideas?
i have 1999 olds intrigue that has same hard start problem did indution clean on fuel system and cleared code worked one day between 50-100 miles then check engine light come on and hard start returned.
Does that mean the crankshaft sensor is bad? I've read a lot about people having a code for bad sensor but they are not necessarily having the mechanical problems. Are you thinking it is a bad snesor without getting a code?
