Re: I need help!!!

If this is a new amp then you may have your speaker load wrong (low). If this is a used amp then you may have a blown output section. This is of course assuming that you have a good ground and hot wire connection and wire size. Good luck.

well the nasty spark it shoots its because you r to first connect negative first always and than positive or check ur main cable/fuse that is connected to your battery inside the fuse box its actually pretty easy to find just follow the positive red wire from your battery till u get to the fuse box it looks like its connected to negative and positive, check it it may be the problem(inside the fuse box), if it isn't you should check the main source of battery recharge which is your alternator it may be going bad

How do i fix my Power Acoustik LT-980/2 car amp, it keeps on going into protect mode.

Disconnect all speaker connections and rca cables. Leave power, ground and remote wires intact. Try turning on again. If you still have a protection light your amp is faulty. Hopefully you have warranty . .A thumbs up would be greatly appreciated if this answer is helpful to you

Should the amplifier go into protect mode, simply disconnect all RCA and speaker leads, while keeping +12 volt, power ground and remote leads connected.

1. Now turn the amplifier back on, and if the diagnostic LED lights, the amplifier has an internal fault.

2. If not, plug the RCA cables back, and reset the amplifier. If it goes into diagnostic now, the fault lies in the input, either with bad cables or source unit.

3. If the amplifier seems fine with RCA cables plugged in, connect the speakers, one at a time, and if one of the speakers or its wiring is faulty, it will activate the diagnostic

Well, I have no idea why you would have two capacitors on a 500 watt amp but, did you charge the capacitors? Have you tried the amp without the capacitors? What size power wire are you using?

How to hook up my amp?

first what are u trying to push, second, the amp is 150w rms. that mean constant power, and 250 @ 2 ohms, now you have power, gnd=ground, and remote<- that turns the amp on when you turn on the car, power or the + sign is what gets connected to the battery, then the ground/gnd or - sign is what gets screwed to the metal of the car, then there is the remote this wire gets connected to your radio, or to any accessory fuse, i.e. lighter, radio fuse, or if you have an aftermarket radio, then it gets connected to the blue with white stripe wire, that will be the amp turn on wire.
You will need red wire about 17ft, black wire about 1ft, and 15 to 16 ft of remote wire, or you can just by an amp kit, that will be easier.
now that the amp is done, time to do the speakers;
You have + and - on the amp, and your speakers have the same signs as well, just make sure when you wire the speakers + goes to + and - goes to -. if you need more help call me @ 6314330567

Protect light comes on, no power

Hello patrick_h_mi,

You'll also need a remote turn-on source for the amp to operate. Normally, this is a blue or blue/white wire from your head unit, but for test purposes, you just need 12V to the "remote" terminal on the amp. The amp should power up without speaker inputs or speaker connections, but it is not recommended.

Hope this helps.

Disconnect all speaker wires from the amp and disconnect the RCA cables from the amp. If it still goes into protect mode, use a multimeter to confirm that you have 12v on the B+ and remote terminals. Place the black meter probe on the ground terminal of the amp when measuring the voltage. If the voltage is sufficient and the amp goes into protect, it will have to be repaired. JL only accepts repairs from authorized dealers. You'll have to find one in your area or you'll have to find a repair shop willing to work on JL amps.

Let me know if you have any other questions.

Auto amplifier installation

Does the new deck have a blue wire for remote and a blue/white wire also? The blue one is for a power antenna and shuts of when playing discs or axillary inputs. The blue/white is for power amplifiers and stays on when the deck is on. Also be sure the remote wire that goes to the amp is not pinched and grounded out to the frame of the car. Let me know, and be sure to leave feedback or I don't get paid.
