After updating one night from TomTom Home, then next day no GPS Signal - it came on about 5 hours later. A week later now it has no signal again. works fins via laptop - updated again - just in case, reset with pin tried everything - possible antenna failure or poor update firmware which requires urgent replacement..either way back to shop for this as I'm a courier!!

Make sure when you're done updating with the computer that you exit the program correctly. If you don't, it will make you want to throw the unit out. When in the car, the sky MUST be above the unit to find satellites

Two year old tom tom xl can take up to 15mins to get a signal any advice

The TomTom device needs to tune in on three or more GPS satelites to find your position. On start, it scans the hemisphere for any satelites and ten minutes and more are not uncommon to establish fixes on them.

The solution is a data package you can download from TomTom servers via the Home software, "QuickGPSFix". It holds precomputed satelite positions for the next few days which speeds up locking to satelites to a few seconds from minutes. However, you need to update the package roughly once a week or the initial delay will pop up again.
