Question about Two-Way Radios

1 Answer

Vertex manual I have in for repair a vertex vxr-9000 uhf repeater. I dont have the service manual. The transmitter is off freq by 500hz and a resistor must be added ro the main board at location E4, R1006 so that the software can adjust its freq. Does anyone have this service manual?? Or know where I can download it? If worse comes to worse I may have to purchase it from the manufacturer, however I have to pass this cost along to the customer and it will not be worth it.

Sorry Bro, I went through my manuals and the company I work for does not have that service manual. We normally don't get the manual for products until we have to work on it... If it was Kenwood or Motorola I have all the service manuals and would be glad too share information with you.

    good luck

I have 4 vertex VH-160 radios, two of them have stopped transmitting, all have been dowlaoded witht he same frequencies. Batteries are good. Whe transmit buton is pushed, the is one beep then nothing. ...

The VX 160's may have bad oscillators. It is not user repairable. The simple thing to check are the antennas. Vertex radios are very susceptible to broken antennas and will not transmit. This is true of Uhf and Vhf. Replace one and try it on all the radios. Never transmit without a antenna. It can cause the PA in the radios to fail.

VHF/UHF RF Power falls to Zero when the Auto ATU tunr logo is on the display. When the tunr logo is off the VHF/UHF RF power is only 10 watts on 2M and 3 watts on 70cms. The Yaesu FT 857 D should have no...

Check for open or shorted Veractor diodes and steering diodes there may be no direct interaction as you say but if a diode is open or shorted the RF circuits might still be selected for the higher bands and the lower output power on your vhf/uhf is an indication of this.
If you do not have a service manual you can get one hear, you will likely kneed one

What frequencies I can use vertex VX 400 U radio

Hi,

Not sure what frequencies are allocated in India for UHF ham, but may i direct you to the following: join yahoo group specific to your radio Make/Model, there you can get info and you can download manuals, schematics and other goodies.

I'm sure, but not 100%, that ham bands around the world have similar allocations on 70 cm band UHF, but as I stated, not 100% sure.

Best regards,
Peter

For some reason my motorola ht1000 wont allow me to pick up police station

1) Are you allowed to be on the Freq?
1a) if no, BUY A SCANNER!!! Having a transmitter on a law enforcement freq without permission/license WILL get you arrested
1b) If yes, take it to the radio shop for the PD and have them program it for you

2) Are they transmitting with digital encryption?
2a) If yes, you wont hear them
2b) if no, are you sure you have the right freq programmed, dont have the wrong PL installed, etc.

3) Is your radio within the freq range they are on?
3a) if no, get a SCANNER if you just want to listen.
3b) if yes, see #2 above

If you just want to listen to the cop shop and are NOT a law enforcement officer (based on you posting here I suspect you are not) then do yourself a favor and BUY A SCANNER..
