Question about Acer Aspire 3000 Notebook

Acer Aspire 3000 notebook constantly overheating and shutting off

This problem I suspect is an internal hardware problem, I would like some suggestions on some parts to replace to optimize the cooling system and avoid this abrupt shutting down.

My Acer Aspire 3000 notebook has a tendency to overheat and abruptly shut itself off. I'm pretty sure that it's a safety measure so that the heat doesn't melt the circuitry. But WHY does the laptop get so hot in the first place?? Is the fan not adequate enough to cool the system? Is there not enough vents on the bottom or sides to allow the proper air flow?

This problem didn't always happen either. For the first year I owned it I had no problems at all.

Does anybody know any tricks or mods that would help with this problem, or is it even the overheating issue at all?

My notebook, the Acer Aspire 5315-2153, had the same problem, for which I called Acer Technical support. They issued me an RMA (return material authorization) which is good for 90 days. In the meantime I bought a Belkin single fan laptop cooler, powered by a USB port on the notebook. So far it hasn't overheated. I'll send the unit back in about 3 weeks.

Hi,

Auto settings in NVIDIA control panel are those which control the temperature of the system. It will check the fans revolution per minute and temperature. Actually it is always better to keep your system in an air-conditioned room which won't result in overheating. By installing the case fans, it will divert heat out of your computer and increase the air-flow.

This is generally a hardware issue - if the computer is under warranty get it fixed through Acer. If not you may need professional help. You don't mention how old the laptop is but if it is older than a year or two and you live in a dusty environment it could be overheating. If the fan is not running or always running on super-high then it is probably overheating.

Another thing to try is using a boot CD (any boot CD will work) and see if the computer still shuts down after that 30 seconds. If yes, definitely hardware. If not, possible that it's a windows issue.

Hope that helps!

My acer laptop keeps closing down/ Any ideas or ways to resolve it

Laptops sometimes shut down to protect your hardware. If the fan has stopped working for example it may be overheating. Is the bottom of your laptop hot?

My acer aspire 3000 turns off suddenly when am watching videos and also when am installing office.

Turn off( shut down or restart automatically)?

It maybe cause from overheating from your graphic memory device/harddware or problem with your processor.

Are you have using fan or anyelse to cooldown your laptop during you using it?
Try something, using any fan that can cold and maintain temperature for your laptop to avoid it from overheating. Overheating is not good. It will cause your motherboard problem or screen monitor problem.

Dont have the original hard disk in my aspire 3000, but I want to restore it to factory settings ??

Go to the acer site, they have the software. I assume you had everything on the old hard drive. Load windows onto your new hard drive. It will detect all your hardware. Actually, since you changed hardware, it no longer is an aspire 3000. I changed out all my stuff in my acer aspire to keep it up to date. The only thing left is the box. As you change hardware the motherboard will detect and adapt. You may still see the aspire logo as it is burned into the bios.

Just check in the power options that anything is not set to shutdown if idle like the hard drive. it sounds really to be processor overheating problem, just check around the side and underside vents for any blockage. Does your fan appear to cut in at any point and stay on or not come on at all, as these things ay be a clue to the problem if it's the processor overheating and shutting down.
