Question about Bose Companion III Computer Speakers
I want to receive Skype calls overnight, but my Bose speakers go into sleep mode when the computer does. But they don't wake up unless I manually hit a key on keyboard.
I had the same problem with the bose companion 5 try this
Evenly Broken Rules Bose Companion 5 sleep mode standby issue SOLVED
with the bose companion 20 if you hold the touch pad on the control pod for 6 seconds you will hear two beeps that turn off the mute feature. this might be the same with the bose companion 3

What happened to you is probably mere coincidence with your cousin's use of the headphones and this is throwing you off. I own the Bose Companions also and they stopped working as well. However, I traced the problem to the "wall wart" power supply. Not sure why but Bose is now using an interchangable plug on them. If you look at the power supply you will see a "PUSH" button. If you depress it the plug can slide out. When it is slid back in and locked in place the connection between the plug plate and the power supply is not a good one. Try fiddling with it. But even if the connection is not the culprit, something in the power supply is. I swapped another power supply with the same connector and spec's ( amps must be the same ) from another item and the speakers worked perfectly.

yes..the only solution is to pop the front panel with screwdriver...to do this more efficiently (without breaking the front panel) ...first insert the thin screwdriver in the gap in front lanel on side wall...and rotate the screw driver 90 degree..this will pop that side....repeat it on other sides too...i did it last night only.....
my problem was that when i dropped the speaker....its magnet fell down...and its no longer working...i am trying to find another broken bose speaker to replace mine...from e bay,,but no luck till now :(

My puppy chewed through the cord for my a/c adapter, I just took the speakers into Circuit City, and they found me a workable replacement (the replacement isn't BOSE, but it works just fine). Hope that helps!
