Shut the computer down and remove the sound card, restart the computer without a sound card installed then shut it down again. Re-install the sound card and make sure the monitor is connected before you restart. The computer should have seen the card and loaded the correct driver. If you are still having problems shut down and restart in safe mode and troubleshoot.
Hello, if your sound card says "Null" it means that your computer isn't seeing the drivers for the card. Here's what to do. First, find the exact model of your Dell. Write this down. Now go to dells site and look for "Sound" drivers. http://support.dell.com/support/downloads/index.aspx?c=us&l=en&s=gen Download the driver and run it. This should install the newest drivers for your sound card. Turn off the computer and re start it. That should be it. If this doesn't work your sound card may be bad. Hope this helps.
if your computer came with a disk the sound drivers could be on it control panel sounds and audio, volume, advanced, speakers select appropriate speakers or audio you will find 3 drop down lists make the necessary adjustmentsthere or control panel, administrive tools, computer management, device manager, sound video and game controllers could be a yellow question mark? right click to re-install drivers hope this helps
You must try 2 options.
Try uninstall sound card drivers, reset comp., and again install sound driver.
In second case you must try new system, with full format hard drive, because you can have trouble with virus, and that is only safe way.
You can also try another sound card, but I think that is you sound card OK.
you need to find out the model of the model number of the motherboard if the sound card is integrated on the motherboard. or on the card if the sound card is a stand alone card. then go to the manufacturers website and down load the sound drivers. that will fix your problem.
