I have a 96 evinrude 150 that seems to have a timing or a fuel problem. she will not stay running unless i squeeze the fuel ball every 15-25 seconds. i have a clear fuel filter that i can watch the gas disapear from when i rev her up and not be replaced. i have all new fuel lines, filters and clamps. also the pump makes no noise when i turn the key to the first position...

Going to sound silly, but is the fuel filter properly installed? I've seen this happen when the fuel filter was installed upside down. In other words, the arrow showing flow of fuel was pointed in the wrong direction. If the fuel ball is collapsing, it could be a vacuum lock problem. Try it with the gas cap loosened and see if that helps - it could be 'too airtight' and creating a vacuum, which cuts off fuel supply.

1989 Evinrude 15 hp E15RCEC Outboard Motor starts but won't stay running. what could be the problem Tried to clean carburetor, didn't work.

depending on how often you used the engine
problems include :-
dirt ,corrosion, rubber bits in the carby---fix is to have the carby professionally cleaned and overhauled
rubber from the fuel hoses disintergrating and causing problems in the carby, the pump valves
the rubber diaphragm in the pump is failing and not producing enough fuel to keep the motor running
the vent on the cap of the fuel tank is still closed creating a vacuum in the fuel system
it would be a good idea to replace all rubber hoses from the tank to the carby, overhaul the fuel pump, and have the carby professionally cleaned and overhauled
if you pull off any rubber hose and get a black stain on your hand ,that is rubber failing.

Evinrude e-tech lost power

The first thing is fuel delivery. Check and fuel filter for crud, next if thats ok check your fuel line for loose connections that would allow air into the line. ( is your pump ball hard?) if not check to see if anti siphon valves in the line which are on either side of the ball. To check this problem remove tthe line from the tank and the engine, and with the end that came from the engine held up high have some one let the pressure off the end that went into tank and then while doing that u lret the pressure off the connector that went into engine. Resusts are if valves are working Very little gas will flow from the line. GAS BE CAREFUL!!!. Next is cloged carb , then possibly electrical failure in high speed circuits. Check compression and clean or replace plugs is another couple ides. Chas

My 96 johnson 25hp boat motor will run for a few minutes at full speed then will die and it takes a while to get it started

MAKE SURE THE WATER PUMP IS WORKING AND THE ENGINE IS NOT OVERHEATING THERE MAY BE A TEMP SENSOR THAT SHUTS DOWN THE IGNITION SYSTEM IF OVERHEATING CHECK FOR SPARK AT PLUGS AFTER ENGINE CUTS OFF..

IF HAS SPARK AT PLUGS AND STILL DOSEN'T RUN CHECK FUEL LINES TO CARB .

IF THATS OK SUSPECT FUEL FILTER /STRAINER /FUEL PUMP / CARB PROBLEM

HOPE THIS HELPS

Engine was flooding out\now fuel primer has to be used to run

recheck float level as well as needle and seat for sticking and or damage, just crack line to bleed air , and eventually it self bleeds anyway... also unless you replaced with new floats check float weight with a float scale to see if floats are saturated or have fuel inside making the heavy and inaccurate ...
