Question about NetGear N300 Wireless Router

1 Answer

I will be working on the internet and suddenly the connection is dropped. It will restart when I unplug and replug in. Will run fine for a few hours and then stop again and have to unplug/replug. All lights go out except for the on/of light. This is a brand new router installed by a professional, just connected yesterday and it has stopped four times already. Is it a lemon???? I would call the professional and have him replace/repair it for starters. There is obviously something wrong with the hardware or the connection of your Internet Provider, ether way the install should test the connection and stand behind his installation. If you paid this guy demand, politely but firmly of course, to repair it. 2DAYS OLD, I would be livid. By the way I do the exact same thing as your professional.

SOURCE: No lights on except power light.

The firmware has been messed up. DDWRT might be incompatible with your router. I would highly recommend to reload the factory firmware or the latest firmware from Netgear's website. Loading 3rd party firmware will void the warranty of your device.

SOURCE: first it is a netgear wpn824 v2 router i need to

1. Please verify the model and version of the router underneath it.
2. Go to http://kbserver.NETGEAR.com/downloads_support.asp and select the model of the router.
3. Please click on the appropriate version of the router.
4. Select the link of the latest firmware. Please click on the button Right-click and Save to Download.
5. Save the file to the Desktop.

Note: Please perform firmware upgrade with wired or Ethernet connection only. Before you upgrade, write down all current settings as you need to enter them manually after upgrading.

6. Using the computer hardwired on the router, open any web browser like Internet Explorer or Netscape Navigator.
7. Connect to the router by typing http://routerlogin.com/basicsetting.htm or http://192.168.1.1 in the address field and click Enter or Return key.
8. A window will prompt for a user name and password. The default username is "admin" and the default password is "password".

Note: If it does not take password as the password, you might have changed it when you have run the NETGEAR Setup CD so please try other passwords. If you cannot remember the password, you need to reset the router and run the Setup CD to reconfigure it.

All of my computers connect to the internet but my ps3 wont

Let's try the simplest things first. Restart the PS3. Then try restarting your router (unplug/replug it in). Make sure all the cables are nice and snug where they should be in both your router and the PS3.

If going for a wired connection, confirm that the cable to and port/cable slot on your router are good (try another cable and cable slot). If going for a wireless connection, confirm that other devices can access your router wirelessly.

Still having trouble? Check your internet settings on the PS3. Navigate to XMB > Settings > Network Settings > Internet Connection Settings. Run through it, selecting Automatic or Auto-Detect whenever possible. If that didn't work try setting it up manually. Here's a guide explaining each option of the manual set up process.

Hope this helps!

Internet drops out, needs to be reset often. I have wireless N Belkin router, but even the wired connections have internet dropping out. i need to unplug, wait, replug and internet comes back. Why?

It is a problem with your ISP connection. Basically, it has nothing to do with your router or modem. Please report this issue to your ISP immediately and see how they can solve this from their end.

I cant connect to the internet now using my laptop, Says it connected to my home hub, but wont connect to internet

sometimes restarting the rourter helps. unplug it, wait a minute, then replug it back in. and restart the laptop. if that doesn't work, try this..
click start....click run...type cmd then click ok...copy and paste this into cmd window...
ipconfig /release
ipconfig /renew
ipconfig /flushdns
ipconfig /registerdns
exit
that should help and if THAT doesnt work, go here..and try the solution as it might need a winsock-lsp repair... http://cexx.org/lspfix.htm i hope this helps merry christmas.

The router is running fine all hook ups are fine changed the wireless card took that to a computer place and it was running fine at the shop when I got the pc home unable to access the internet even though...

The cable internet is not "seeing" the computer. The router is blocking it. That is why it works if you plug it into the modem directly. How to solve this is to turn everything off and unplug power to modems and routers for 3-5 minutes. Then replug in routers. Then restart computers.

That is why it worked at the computer store. Everything was shut down and restarted.

Also, sometimes it is necessary to call the ISP (for example Comcast) and have them re-send the signal. Also going to Control Panel Network Connections and choose "repair the connection" will reset the signal.
Be patient it will work.

Belkin router F5D9230-4 connection issues

First thing to do here is to reset the router, Press and hold the reset button for 15 seconds while the power is ON then after that unplug/replug the power for 5 seconds then run again the setup CD and if the router is still working after the reset it should be configure by the setup CD, if not I will advice you to contact Belkin tech support so they can further check if the router is bad already and if its still under warranty they can replace it....

Hope that helps..........
