Hi,
a 6ya expert can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.

the service is completely free and covers almost anything you can think of (from cars to computers, handyman, and even drones).
click here to download the app (for users in the US for now) and get all the help you need.

On the internet and monitor went black. I restarted the computer and could hear the start up tone but the video is still black. Might it be a video card or the monitor itself? It is about 3 years old...

Chances are it is the monitor that is bad, but I would suggest hooking a spare monitor to the computer to rule out the video card, at least this way you will know for sure.

ViewSonic 19" flat screen monitor goes black - intermittently

Hi,
There could be a problem with your display card settings or the display card itself. If you are using Windows operating system, make sure that you have the monitor driver installed for that specific monitor. This is to ensure that Windows only allows settings for which your particular monitor was designed.
Let me know if I can assist you any further regarding this.
Best wishes,
Graemevm

Monitor displays Msg. frequency out of range, screen is black

Start your computer and press the F8 when the manufacturer's logo screen is showing. This will bring you to the Windows startup menu. Pick "start in VGA mode" and windows will start up with video settings you monitor can handle. Then you can change your video settings so Windows will start normally with your monitor.

Black screen

The problem could be in the Monitor, Computer or Cable. Did you try to connect another monitor or can you try to connect another computer (maybe a laptop) to that monitor?
It's important to understand where to start.
Thanks
