Question about Toshiba Satellite M105-S3041Notebook
This is my daughter's machine; she is in college and the machine is about 2 1/2 yrs old. Yesterday it was a good little Toshiba Satellite M105-S3041 PC doing its thing either running off the battery or AC.
This morning nothing and I mean nothing. No lights anywhere, no humming, no fan, nothing with either power supply (and yes, the ac outlet is proven as live, and yes, the battery was taken out and reset, and yes the machine is still dead when powered ac without the battery in).
After its last known usage, the machine was properly shut down and left plugged in to the wall overnight.
on/off switch? power pack shot? overheated? any other ideas or diagnostics tests?
One computer I fixed had its internal power regulation confused. With the AC adapter plugged in, holding the power switch down for twelve seconds, then pressing it again, switched it back on. This sort of problem can come from a variety of causes, though. There is an internal power distribution chip which could have received a static electric shock or power surge and gotten cooked. The RAM could have gone bad. The socket where the adapter plugs into the computer could have been cracked loose. Check the power switch and then RAM first, and write more if that doesn't fix it.
