I know the slightest bit of dust either on the disk or in the player causes this in mine. Usually I can simply wipe the disk with a soft cloth when mine does it and it works fine.

You have gone through the hazzle to see if the wires/cables are all where they should be.
pushed "eject" once or twice. If nothing happens at this stage, I often find it helpful to cut off the electricity for up to five minutes. Then start all over again similar to restarting the computer.
Open for the disc to be put in and push "play".
