There will be a couple sets of timing marks for your cam. The first and probably most important is the mark on the flywheel. On the top of the recoil cover, there is a bolt that can be removed to see the timing mark on the flywheel. The mark on the flywheel will be a "T". You will notice that the threads where the bolt was removed will have a point, kind of like an arrow that the "T" needs to be lined up with. Next there should be 2 dots on the camshaft gear. If the "T" is in the window, the dots should be at the top of the gear, and the piston should be at top dead center. The camshaft lobes will also be facing away from the valves.
