SOURCE: furnace blower motor

I would check the "G" wire at the Thermostat and make sure that it has a solid connection. The other end screws on to a terminal in the furnace. Check this connection as well. This green(G) wire is what activates the 120v relay on the circuit board. You can test this by turning the thermostat to the off position and then jumping the 24v R terminal with the 24v G terminal at the furnace. if the fan comes on then the problem is in the thermostat wire or the thermostat itself.

Hello, I was hired to fix a gas water heater. After changing the parts several times, even installed a brand new water heater and it wouldn't work either, the pilot would take hold but never fired up to...

You need a manometer to check the pressure of the gas at the appliance and it should be SEVEN inches of WATER COLUMN. Be extremely careful with this and keep in mind that new water heaters have an anti explosion feature and that feature will put the pilot light out if there is a hazard of explosion in the room with the water heater. You need to make sure that there is no obstructive debris in the line of the screen at the water heater / furnace. The gas pressure on the outside of the house before the meter and the regulator could be anywhere from 50 to 90 PSI and that is the gas companies responsibility. I would call them first and have them check THEIR SIDE of the problem including THEIR REGULATOR.

How do I light pilot light?

There should not be a pilot on a direct vent furnace. When you turn up the thermostat for heat the 1st thing to happen is a venter motor should start, it should vent for approximately 45 seconds, the air switch will verify a vacuum in the burner box, then a spark igniter should start clicking to start the pilot, then the flame rod will verify the pilot, the igniter will stop clicking, and the main burner will ignite and remain on until the thermostat has satisfied the set point. These guideline steps must be satisfied before the controller advances to the next step. The 1st step is the venter motor running, sometimes the motor will stick over the summer months, spin it manually to unstick it. PS, nothing runs if the fan door cover is open, as that shuts down the power to the whole furnace.

The 2 flashes on the screen and the furnace will not turn on. The 2 indicates the time frame program which is correct but why flashing? Owners manual does not address.

I had two flashes on a Honeywell 8670 continuous retry controller to my Burnham power vent natural gas furnace. In my furnace the two flashes meant the last attempt at starting failed and it was going to retry in 90 seconds.

In my case the furnace actually had two intermittent problems with similar codes. The first issue was the high voltage pilot light cable was also a combination flame sensor wire. The cable was supposed to clamp on to the pilot assembly like a spark plug wire.

When it was installed the clamping bits were too far apart and some fool decided since it wasn't sticking he would glue it on. This worked initially, but later the connection was only good enough to pass the high voltage not the low current DC signal back to the controller indicating the flame started successfully. Flames conduct a small amount of electricity due to ionization and the controller senses this.

I pinched the clamping bits together with some pliers. Then it fit tight and kept working.

Other reasons for the 2 flash code on my controller might be no gas or pilot light failure.

My other problem was a partially failed capacitor on my power vent motor caused the vent fan to run in reverse on say one in one hundred start attempts. Once it started running in reverse it wouldn't run forward without stopping it completely, which took several minutes of off time. The capacitor was available quickly and inexpensively from McMaster Carr.

The WeatherKing Forced air heater stopped working in my house. The thermostat could turn it on in terms of sound but when I looked at the heater, all I saw is the pilot light. No air, hot or cold, was...

You will need to relite the pilot if this is a standing pilot furnace........If this has an electronic lite for the pilot then cycle power to the furnace and set thermostat to heat. and retry sequence. Once you get the pilot to lite then watch it to see if the main gas comes on. if it doesn't then you need to check and see if you are getting 24 volts to the gas valve with a volt meter. If you don't feel comfortable with doing this then you will have done everything that is simple. You will have to call a service tech. Problems that it could be are gas valve, limits not closed, ignition control board, main limit open because the blowor motor locked up or motor has open winding or run capacitor open.

Light pilot on Royal deep fryer. Pilot will not stay lit. Second fryer has larger pilot have no trouble keeping it lit. How can I adjust the pilot so that it will stay lit?

there is a small adjustment screw on the gas valve, turn it clockwise to increase pilot,if that does not work the vent cap on the gas regulator on the back of the unit could be stopped up,remove that cap ,clean out or replace unit can operate without it just fine.If you increase the pilot and it still wont stay lit replace the thermocouple

Wall furnace shuts off after about 10-20 mins

sounds like its not venting likely is shutting off on a "Spill switch" or "Vent safety switch"....check the vent/chimney first off.....also the pilot could be dirty..,..a lazy pilot tends to blow out easily....pilot should be blue and sharp,,,big enough to fully envelope the thermocouple

Pilot lights fine, furnace fires up, when it turns off the pilot goes out

need to have at least 3 feet of vent out of the roof, if it is to low the coll air will cold soak down to the pilot and shut it down.
