The problem of "'no discs'"displayed is in the mechanism in the roller thats moving back and port bringing the lense set .The old grease thier is already hardened that cause the problem.Clean that by using a lighter fluid or like that fluid to take the old grease, and put it with a new one first class grease type-A grease put only a little grease and wipe the lense with a cotton buds without any chemicals on it .Try this solution so performance will be better.

HI.This will occur when the optical assembly becomes unstable. this ((Whole One Piece)), assembly incorporates the spin/load motor, optics housing /arm, tracking device and tracking rail. This is connected to the loading dock assembly. This 'NO Disc' or CD NOT PLAYABLE, code is the result of a failed or burned out lens, or misaligned loading mechanism. It is possible that you have a dirty lens cap. you can try using a cleaning disk in this case to confirm actual lens failure. if the cleaning doesn't restore normal reading capabilities, this will confirm my diagnosis.
You will need to have the optical assembly replaced in this case. once replaced, your unit will be able to read and track once more

This problem is not due to codecs, as all audio cd's and cd players use the same format (with the exception of CD players that have MP3 capability).
The problem here is due to the Quality of the blank media being used and also the laser unit in the stereo. Some stereos will not play copied or burned discs at all.
You can try burning the cd at a lower speed as sometimes this creates a more stable burn and will work. Also try branded (high quality) discs. if all this fails then you have to be resigned to the fact that unfortunately the Yamaha won't play burned discs and thats that.
