I contacted Sony on the 5th - I asked about the extended warranty on the optical block and I was told it expired 12/31/08 (5 days after my problem). I called a few repair shops to get a quote on the replacing of the optical block - 900.00 to 1400.00. My TV is only a little over three years... I can't believe the cost to repair considering I can buy a new TV for 1500 - 2000... I own multiple SONY TV's and have never had them in the repair shop...I thought SONY made a good product - What type of big screen should I look at buying to replace the old one???

Hello,

This problem is most likely related to the Optical BLock of the TV. There is a board, called the C board, that does all of the thinking for the optics of the television, and there are tests that can be run to confirm this.

Try pressing the MENU button (or WEGA GATE, HOME) on the remote control. If the menu that pops up has the same lines running through it, then it is definitely the Optical Block. If not, that doesn't rule it out completely. You can try Sony customer support, and they should be able to run you through some tests to confirm the exact cause of the problem.

Hope this helps you...

It sounds to be a T'Con broad problem. Check all the flat cable connections in between lcd pane and T'Con board for firmness. Re-seat them once and check. If you wish to get more details about these kind of faults to Samsung LCD model TVs, check this site.

Blue vertical line at reght side of screen

This is normal. Depending on what you have connected to it the lines could be white, black and white specs, or green. Just mode will show the entire picture event the parts that aren't supposed to be seen. I would not recommend that setting. Full is the best mode if you want to see the entire picture in the correct ratio.

NO PICTURE BLACK SCREEN AND A BLUE LINE ACROSS SCREEN.

The vertical circuit has failed. This can be as simple as poor connections on the pins of the vertical IC or a defective IC. If you can solder, you can fix this yourself. Let me know if you wish to attempt the repair and I'll provide details and instructions.

Sony KF50WE610 Vertical Blue Lines Across Screen

the vertical blue lines indicate some interference from other electronic gadgets near your tv. it started showing up on my sony grand wega when i installed my wireless modem. i almost ordered a new rear projection lamp costing over $100 but decided to experiment. i first moved my desk computer farther away from the tv then isolated the wireless modem router by placing it inside a small glass - the vertical blue lines became lighter in color so i dedided to find another small glass that fit inside the first glass container then put the router in the double glass - no more blue lines and my wireless modem router still works.
do some deductive thinking to figure out what's messing up your tv and isolate the interference.
good luck!
