Toshiba printing caluclator

I have a Toshiba Printing adding machine. Model bc-1294PV The machine powers up and prints, but a few keys on the machine do not seem to work. The most important key = does not get a response. I took it apart and could not see any thing wrong with it. Any help would be appreciated. Dan

Re: toshiba printing caluclator

Hey Dan, try cleaning the rubber contact pads under the key button with a damp rag as well as the board it contacts with. Some machines have a carbon contact instead of a rubber one. Look closely and make sure the carbon is not scratched or worn off. If so, scrap it.

Why doesn't the equal button work when I do additions and subtractions?

Your calculator is fine. It is an adding machine first, so it uses adding machine logic and you hit the star button to print the total on the tape. The equals sign is only used when multiplying and dividing.

Adding machine logic is as follows:

5+ total 5
3- total 2
7+ total 9
* print out total

Good luck,

Press the CA button twice. Then push and hold down the %/set key until the 0 disappears and reappears. Then type in your tax rate and the percent key (eg: 8.25%) and then press the TAX+ key. It should save the new tax rate. Posted on Feb 25, 2008

How do I print the total amount on my ticker tape of what I've added? I pressed the equals sign but that didn't work.

"OFF": Power OFF
"•": Power ON. Set to the non print mode.
"P": Power ON. Set to the print mode.
"P•IC": Power ON. Set to the print and item count mode.
1) For addition or subtraction, each time is pressed, 1 is added to the item
counter, and each time is pressed, 1 is subtracted.
• The count is printed when the calculated result is obtained.
• Pressing of , clears the counter.
2) When the grand total/rate setting mode selector is in the ON position (GT), the
counter will count the number of times that the calculation results have been
stored in the grand total memory. To print and clear the count, press the key.
3) The memory item counter will count the number of times that the key has
been pressed in the addition.
Note: • Each time the key is used in the subtraction, 1 will be subtracted from
the count.
• The count is printed when the memory is recalled.
• Pressing of the key clears the counter.
Note: The counter has a maximum capacity of 3 digits (up to ±999). If the count exceeds
the maximum, the counter will recount from zero.

Not printing decimals

Depending on the model there is often a switch that you can set the decimal on, often 1-6 places at the top.
