Your scanner will only operate in these ranges 25-54, 108-174, 406-512 MHz. If the number you seek is outside this range then you may have to buy a digital scanner which will be $300 to $500.

How do i receive police frequencies on a Uniden RM 770?

Go to www.radioreference.com to find the frequencies that you want. Program the scanner according to the instructions in the manual. http://www.uniden.com/content/ebiz/uniden/resources/ownersmanuals/BCD396Tom.pdf

How to put the police channel on my uniden VH038SX-2NB

Hi Shorty,

Uniden UH038sx-2nb, is the make/model.

Unfortunately, what you have is a designated UHF CB radio, that can't be programmed with frequencies outside of the UHF CB band.
Well, not without stuffing the unit up, anyway.

Why would you want to program police frequencies into a 2-way radio anyway, The fact that police are moving or have moved to digital, means you won't hear anything anyway., so why bother?

That's what radio scanners were used for, until the cops found out, and started changing to Digital mode operations.

I really can't see the point of modifying and most likely destroying an otherwise perfectly working radio.

Sorry, I couldn't be more helpful, but that's life.

Regards,
Peter

Emergency services uses two frequencies. The dispatcher uses one frequency to contact the officer and the officer's radio uses a different frequency to contact the dispatcher.

I inherited a uniden bearcat BC147xlt! How do I

I was unable to locate a manual, but this is a basic 16-channel scanner, and the frequency coverage is probably listed on the ID plate. To program, turn the scanner ON and use the MANUAL button to stop scanning and to advance the scanner to the channel that you want to program. Enter the frequency that you want to program, including the decimal, then push the E (Enter) key. Use the MANUAL key to advance to the next channel, and program as above.

Scanner problem

check this link for user manual if you need it http://www.uniden.com/pdf/BC72XLTom.pdf
to heard trunking you should check if your scanner can handle this communications protocols.
to set frequencies, you should know wich band are they working, VHF, UHF, or 800, to start scanning.
Even they are in trunking, you will heard trunking channels but maybe just one side of the communications
