Clean you computer of "JUNK" start with CCLEANER found at:http://www.filehippo.com/download_ccleaner/ Install and run this program, use often. There are many things that slow a computer down, Junk files, Toolbars on IE, Malware, Viruses, etc., What is starting at boot or Start up of the computer. CCLEANER will clean out the junk, and the unused Registry files, and it has TOOLS to disable START UP programs you do not need to start at Startup, Look for the TOOL icon and click go to STARTUP. Only you can decide what you do not want to start up. ALSO, try a malware program like MALWAREBYTES found here: http://www.filehippo.com/download_malwarebytes_anti_malware/ The versions are FREE, you can find many useful programs on FILEHIPPO.com That a good start for speeding up your system, REMEMBER, with every program you add look for a Box to "tick/untick" (or uncheck in USA), when the program Asked "DO YOU WANT TO START WITH WINDOWS", NO. Unless YOU want it to. There is a Uninstaller I use REVO UNINSTALLER FREEversion found here: http://www.revouninstaller.com/revo_uninstaller_free_download.html This little program will get the junk that's left behind by some other uninstallers, learn about the Advanced Uninstall. If you have a GOOD anti Virus keep it uo to date and use it. If I can be of further assistance let me know by responding to this post.

How can I speed up my computer?

Your computer may be loaded down with lots of "Malware Programs" and other unwanted garbage. Download and install a good Spyware removal program called SPYBOT SEARCH AND DESTROY and get this from SaferNetworking.net. Install this program, update it first and then run a full scan and let it clean and remove all the garbage programs you probably have running in the background spying on you. Another good free program is SUPERANTISPYWARE and be sure to download this one from www.supantispyware.com and not others that will pop up if you do a Google search. Those others are just waiting for foolish folks to download and are themselves a bunch of spyware. Know the sites your getting programs from. RESEARCH ahead of downloading anything from the internet. These two FREE programs are great and MALWAREBYTES is another great program. Get busy and clean out that garbage in your slow computer and get it back up to speed! Good luck. Dennis

My computer is too slow - how do I make it faster?

Slow Start Up
There can be a variety of reasons to Windows loading slow during start up. Go to Run, type msconfig and hit enter. Under the 'Start Up' tab, uncheck the unwanted programs and press OK. Things should be a bit fine the next time Windows boots.
Another program worth mentioning here is StartUp Delayer which will help in setting after how much time programs should be loaded after Windows boots. For instance, you could set your instant messenger program to load 50 seconds after Windows starts up.
Slow Loading Start Menu
If the Start Menu items are loading slowly, you can open the Registry Editor by typing in the Run menu 'regedit.exe' and pressing Enter. Go to HKEY_CURRENT_USERControl PanelDesktop. Look for MenuShowDelay, and double click to edit the value. The lower the number specified, the faster the Start Menu will load.
Slow Right Click Context Menu
Probably the Windows Right Click menu on your computer is loading slow because too many programs added unwanted entries there. Just download this program called Mmm, install it and then modify your context menu to remove unwanted items to speed it up.
win-fixes-send-to.jpg Slow Send To Menu
If the Send To menu loads slowly, you can type 'sendto' in the Run Dialog, and remove unwanted items in the Explorer Window that appears. This should add some speed to it.

Slow Defragmentation
The Windows Defragmenter can't get any slower. You need to have an alternative to the Windows Defragmenter, and Defraggler is just one of the best ones available in the market. It's free, and works like a charm and can speed up defragmentation manifold. For some alternatives, see Five Free Programs to Defragment your PC.

Runs slow and stops during program

hiee.. if your pc runs slow and hangs during your work this might happen because of load on your pc and some unnecessary programs working in background so i recommend you to remove unnecessary programs. one more thing keep some space in the same partition in which your Xp is installed don't make it full. you can also remove some program from startup. you can also boostup speed by using some utility software.

Speed

Actually there are many reasons why your computer will boot up slow. I can only give you some tips.

Click start>run>type msconfig. On the startup tab uncheck any program that you don't need on startup.

Delete Prefetch files. Prefetch files are being created by windows when you open a program so thaht the next time you open the program it will pull up faster. But having too much prefetch helps slow your computer down on startup because it loads on startup. to delete go to start>run> type prefetch. delete all that you will see there.

For trojan problems the best way to remove them is by running a scan of updated antivurus program. If you don't have one. try SuperAntispyware. it worked for me. =)

This is going to be a setting in your scanner program. The scanner does not have to load in your systray when your computer starts to work. This just makes it respond a couple of seconds quicker, but slows your computer down every time it starts. Never put things in your systray unless you use them constantly. Things by your clock are things that are always running. This slows your computer down.
I can't fix this for you, but if I helped you get it fixed, please rate it as a fixya not a helpful rating. These ratings let me be allowed to help you and others in the future.
