    I´m having the same problem.
I can connect to the internet and all that, but i want to set a password on my connection.
We got about 4 computers connected to the wireless internet.
Ive tried to reset the connect to factory settings a few times, but I still cant get connected to http://192.168.1.2
When i run CMD and ipconfig /all I get IP-adress to be 93.160.88.246 and default gateway to be 93.160.88.1.

I´ve tried to make this work for days. Am I missing some sort of special software to access or?

    Regards Thomas

Are you using IE? Are you entering this address in the address bar? Try http://192.168.2.1

    Try creating a new shortcut:
Right-click the Desktop (Or any convenient location).Select New Shortcut.
    Enterhttp://192.168.1.2
Give the Shortcut a name (Router)
In IE, you can change the address bar search behavior: Open Tools/Internet Options/Advanced
Look for "Search from the address bar." I use "Just go to the most likely site", or you can try "Do not search from the address bar".
Frankly, I've never changed these settings before, but this should help if you have some other setting selected.

SOURCE: Problems With Web configuration

Try this - 1) Check the IP Address first 2) Assuming that you have Windows XP. you may click on start -> run and type 'CMD'; Click 'OK' 3) This must bring up a black screen, which is the command prompt 4) Next to the cursor, type 'IPCONFIG' and hit enter 5) This will give you some information and one of them would be the Default Gateway, which would be the IP Address of the Zyxel router (if the computer is actually getting a connection from the router) and this IP Address is the one which can be used in the Internet Browser to open the web configuration 6) In the previous steps I'm assuming that the IP Address of router is not 192.168.1.2 7) In case, we have an IP Address of 192.168.1.2 and you are still not able to pull up the web configuration, check for any software firewall. Disable it temporarily. THE STEPS GIVEN ABOVE ARE GENERALISED AND MAY NOT WORK FOR EVERY SITUATION. IF YOU ARE NOT ABLE TO FOLLOW THE STEPS GIVEN ABOVE, PLEASE INITIATE A CHAT SESSION WITH ME FROM THE FIXYA HOMEPAGE WHENEVER I'M ONLINE AND WE'LL CARRY ON FROM THERE. GOOD LUCK

How to Chang the password of wlan

With most wireless routers you can go to their default IP address in your web browser. Open up Firefox, Internet Explorer, or the browser of your choosing and type in to the URL bar:

192.168.0.1

This is the most common IP address for wireless routers and should bring you to the wlan's configuration page. Enter your wireless routers default password and then look around in the configuration for where you can change your password (usually on the first page that pops up).

If you can tell me the exact WLAN you have, I can further assist you and tell you exactly where in that configuration page you can change your password.

Please be sure to be connected to your wireless router before attempting to navigate to 192.168.0.1 as this method will not work if you're connected to another network!

How to configure my router with laptop?

  • 1.Launch your Web browser and then type 192.168.1.1 in the address field. Click "Enter."

  • 2.Click "Basic Settings." Input the configuration information given to you from your ISP in this screen. The settings not given by your ISP can likely be left at their default value. Click "Apply" before navigating away from this screen.

  • 3.Click "Wireless Settings" in the menu on the left side of the screen. Enter or select the appropriate settings in the Wireless Settings dialog. Select the appropriate Security Options, then generate the security key. Click "Apply" before navigating away from the Wireless Settings dialog.

  • 4.Reboot the router for the changes to take effect.

Internet not working through wireless linksys router but working when directly connected to modem

I think the problem will rely depending on the settings on your router, Follow these step by step solution on resolving the problem.

    1. Connect the cable coming from your modem going through the internet/WAN port of your wireless broadband router.

    2. I suggest you test your internet connection first by connecting an ethernet cable from your Wireless Router LAN port going to your PC NIC(Network Interface Card).

    3. In order for you to setup your router, you should be using a web browser. Go through your router configuration by typing 192.168.0.1 / 192.168.1.1, on your web browser. The ip address depends on the manual of the router which default ip address is assigned to your router.

    Illustration:
    7d94749.jpg

after enter the ip address, pressEnter and you should see a login box where you can type the username and password of the router.

You should check from your manual what is the default username assigned when you purchase the router. Since some routers have been using standard username and passwords.
You should use "admin" as your username and leave the password blank, press Enter / OK.

If you have a successful login, you should see a router configuration webpage where you can setup your router.

Look for the Internet Setup panel, select what type of connection you are using,

    DHCP - for cable modems
PPPoe - for most DSL modems

if you are unsure, just check with your ISP.
Set the SSID to identify your router and assign a WEP (Wireless Encryption Key) under your Wireless Security section to encrypt your routers network to prevent others from connecting to your internet without any permission.

Hi I want to add a laptop to my wireless network but have forgotten the passkey Any help please

Hi here's one of the best solution for your problem. First connect to the internet with a cable, or use another connected machine and then go to start>run. Type cmd and enter, then type ipconfig and enter. The bottom number is the default gateway (router) address. Type this in your browser and you should reach the router configuration. If you don't know the admin password try downloading the manual from the manufacturer's web site but usually the default username and password is "admin" and "admin" resepectively or "administrator" and "password". Once in configuration look for wireless security and you can see the key.

    Router password security

When you set your router up to connect to your broadband you had to access the router through your web browser.
Do the same again and then check the Wireless section and follow the instructions on screen.

    Secure wireless internet

The D-Link is configured using a Web browser. After you have connected your computer to the D-Link router, follow these steps: 1. Launch your Web browser. Enter "http://192.168.0.1" into the address bar and press the "Enter" or "Return" key.
    2. A logon pop-up screen will appear. Type "admin" for the username and leave the password field blank.
    3. Click "OK". A D-Link configuration screen will appear. All changes to the D-Link configuration are made here.

Enabling WEP* (Wired Equivalent Privacy) will require anyone wishing to access the Internet through your wireless network to enter a password. After the correct password is entered, a connection is established, and all data sent from the D-Link to the computer and back is encrypted. From the D-Link configuration screen:
    1. Click the "Home" tab.
    2. Click the "Wireless" button.
    3. Click the "Open System" button next to "Authentication".
    4. Set the "WEP Encryption" to "128 bit".
    5. Set the "Key Type" to "ASCII".
    6. Type a 13 digit password into "Key 1".
    7. Click "Apply".
    8. When you connect to your wireless network from a computer, you will need to enter the 13 digit password.
*Note: If your computer's operating system supports it, enabling WPA-PSK is more secure than WEP. The steps above can be modified to set up WPA-PSK.
