Light switch stopped working. The High/Night/Off switch for my Kenmore 721.62622200 underside light no longer dims or switches lights off. Can the switch be replaced?

Can the under-oven light switch be isolated and replaced or does the entire control board need to be replaced?

We see this a lot. The problem is on the control panel, which we regularly repair nationwide for $39.95 postpaid.

This light failure often occurs when a bulb goes out and the filament shorts, or when the bulbs are removed or installed without first unplugging the oven from the power line. Either can cause such a failure on the controller.

Details of our service and critical safety information and disassembly information is at our site, and our link is at our listing here on FixYa: http://tinyurl.com/yzjozk

Sound liek a problem with your hi-voltage system has gone bad. The noise you are hearing is the hi-voltage transformer. This has taken the magnetron which does the heating out.

If I dont mistake, t
he magnetron has a five year warranty on it, the rest of these parts only have a year on them. If your microwave looks and sounds normal but isn't producing any heat, you should check the internal door switches, the high voltage circuitry and the circuit board for problems. You will need a certified technician to help you make these repairs.

Hope this helps.

Microwave Cooktop / Night Light not working

I would check the door switches with a digital meter, set to ohms, disconnect one wire from switch and test for open and short by pressing door switch, if you hit one that tests the same when pressing and releasing, switch should be replaced.

I have a GE profile spacemakeer JVM1860DB worked great until Saturday now when I do anything to it, it just buzzes and the microwave will not work did notice the lights are dim and the night light is dim...

The problem is more than likely a bad magnetron, especially when there is a loud buzzing sound and it is laboring. There are two additional parts that could be a factor, the high voltage capacitor and diode they work in conjunction with the magnetron to generate the high voltage to heat the food. To get it repaired professionally with parts and labor will be high.

You can still use it, but must be aware that this is a relatively high power microwave, so food will burn if it isn't turned.

Kenmore Microwave Oven cooktop light

Turnaround is usually about a week "door to door".

The problem is on the circuit board, but we ask that you send the control panel assembly, by which we mean the plastic control panel frame, keypad, and circuit board as an assembly.

We're happy to help you and we'd appreciate your thoughtful rating of our answer.
