Question about Whirlpool Duet 4.0 Cu. Ft. Steam Washer

1 Answer

After losing power the refrigerator did not come back on. After moving the thermostat it did run again for about 36 hours. Then it stopped running (no power -light did not go on). It popped the ground fault on two separate outlets. No problem on those outlets with other appliances.

SOURCE: I have a new machine. It won't run on a ground

Hi Gary, It is possible that your ground fault plug is at fault itself. Sometimes the GFIB becomes weak and will trip off without there being a real problem. Some GFIB are rated at 15 amperes and some are rated at 20 amperes. I would recommend that you check it out and make sure that your GFIB is rated at 20 amperes and is new. Even though a GFIB might be rated at 20 amperes, the fault condition that allows the GFIB to trip is a very small amount of current detected between the safety ground...the round hole and the neutral (the larger vertical blade). The 'trigger' circuit is looking for any current flow between the safety ground wire and the neutral wire and that will probably be in the range of 100 milliamperes and above. FYI, refrigerators and washing machines do not like GFIB's

Bottom Line: You can make your washer operate on your GFIB plug by using a ground buster which is an adapter which you plug your washer power cord into the ground buster and the ground buster into the wall receptable. Please keep in mind that if you use a ground buster.....your washer will not have a safety ground. Hope this helps you! Handy Henry

HI, GIve it 24 hours before you panic. If the fans are running and the compressor is running, you should be ok. Make sure the fan underneath is running. Sometimes when moved, something will get caught and stop the blade.
Please let me know if I can assist you further.

Fridge runs intermittently

you have a defrost timer or defrost element that went bad, only a service tech can tell which one, because they both have to be checked & they are checked differently

Refrigerator cuts runs and then stops running and then runs again

When the refrigerator is sufficiently cool, it will shift to stand by mode, so that it won't take up much power. When the refrigerator loses it's temperature, it will again go on and start taking power and this cycle goes on. I assume that's what happening to your refrigerator.

Fridge not cooling

If the refrigerator isn't cool, you need to answer some questions, then see if the compressor is running. First, answer these questions: Is the refrigerator completely dead? If so, see “It's stopped completely.” Is the thermostat knob turned to the proper setting? If not, reset it. Next, see if the compressor motor is running The compressor is a football-sized case with no apparent moving parts. It's on the outside of the refrigerator at the back near the bottom. If it is humming or making a continuous noise and your refrigerator is still not cooling, there may be a more serious problem with one or more of several different components, we recommend contacting a qualified appliance repair technician for further help. If the compressor is not running but you do have power to the refrigerator, there may be a problem with one or more of these: The compressor The Thermostat The overload, relay, or capacitor The defrost timer The condenser fan motor

Shuts down, interior lite on tho, plug back in and works - stops

You have a bad thermostat ( the piece where you adjust the coldness of the refrig ) . Once it gets to temp and shuts off , it will not tell the system to start again . Next time not running , tap on the t-stat . If it starts , this tells you the thermostat is bad .

I have a GE side by side.. When we got home last night I noticed some water on the the floor and the power was on inside the refrigerator but the cooling apparently stopped working. I moved the fridge and...

The defrost timer will turn off the compressor and its cooling fan. At the same time it turns on the defrost heater, and usually leaves the freezer fan running. Defrost can take half an hour, easy. As soon as the defrost thermostat is satisfied, the defrost heater is supposed to turn off, and the compressor may come back on. The defrost timer is about the size of a cell phone, with about five wires going to it in a plug. It has a small dial on it that only goes one way. You can mark it and wait a half hour to see if it moves.

The display unit keeps flashing on the fridge side on my samsung RS20CCVS.

When the temperature indicator flashes indicate then the temperature has ridge a level lower the the set temperature for example if you set you fridge side to 36 degree and and has fail to stop from getting cooler and has ridge 34 degree. some times those friges fail to calibrate them self tray by unplugging you dirge for 30 seconds and replug it then the board will auto calibrate for the next 24 hours If this problem comes back again that meas than your defrost element on the fridge side is bad.
