It sounds like your tub bearings are starting to leak. I just rebuilt mine. It appears that once the main seal fails, water migrates into the bearing cavity and I guess sometimes some grease leaks out. I also found that the original bearings were a -2Z which is a shielded bearing not sealed. The sealed bearings are a -2RS. Anyway, if your washer is getting louder on the spin cycle, the bearings are going bad or will be if the greas is leaking out. Mine was a frigidaire, but I think they are for the most part they all have the same configuration.

    Hope this helps.

Actually the black grease looking stuff usually comes from a buildup of liquid fabric softner under the agitator get some stuff called washer magic and follow the directions on it that will clean everything up please rate

Ok, this can be a few things that show this symptom, you will have to troubleshoot and isolate your problem by using the troubleshooting steps in the manual. If you need parts, they are readily available online, simply Google, for what you need, all numbers etc, are in the manual.

GE Profile wont spin,why?

Hello, your problem is going to be with the lids switch, in this machine it is going to be a magnetic contact. You can confirm this my pulling the front panel off and accessing the wiring to the lids switch, If you have electrical knowledge bypass the lid switch using a wire nut and run the machine. If all is ok make sure you replace the lid switch since it is there for a reason. If you have any other questions or concerns please feel free to comment again. Good Luck!!! Thanks for using Fix-ya. A high rating would be appreciated for your free question :)

Grease on clothes?

This is a 50 year old problem on washers.  All brands.  You just got lucky on this one.
If you buy a new one, consider a unit built by Whirlpool.  They also make Kenmore and others.
