This is an old printer, so I've replaced the ink cartridges many, many times. I know which cartridges to use. I've tried everything that's in the manual. Cleaning heads, aligning print head, nozzle check, all that stuff. There is just no ink coming out of the black tank. Thanks for your help.

I did everything in solution one. Hard reset. Cleaned contacts. New cartridge. None of these did anything. Thanks for your help. Anymore ideas?

Sound like a new printer. A sad day for me. Thanks for your help.

I solved my similar problem (suspect may have been caused by one refill too many), by removing the print-head and cleaning it in hot water (I'm advised cartridge fluid will also do the job), gently shaking it, dab around with cotton bud and giving it a shake. I then installed a nice new expensive official Canon cartridge. Ran the print-head alignment and nozzle checks and it's now as good as new.

    or

It's likely the print head is clogged. You have 2 options:

    1) Remove and clean the print head. Open the printer and lift the gray
lever and just pull out the print head. There are no tabs to push, it
simply slides out. Search the web for cleaning techniques. Looks like
people have tried hot water, isopropyl alcohol, and ammonia. I don't
know what the best technique is. It's probably a good idea to finish
with a distilled water rinse and soak up the excess water with regular
towels or paper towels. Remember to clean the ink jet at the bottom of
the print head and not the electronic circuitry at the back of the print head.

    2) Buy a replacement print head for $50-$65 off the web.

    Hope that helps :-)

If after replacing new black cartridges and a new print head is still does not print in black, it is either a defective ink pump, or a defective control board, in both circumstances the repair may be expensive.

Try hard reset .

Unplug the unit from power chord for 30 minutes and plug back the power chord to the unit .
This will reset your unit .

If your problem still exists remove the cartridge and clean the contact and place the cartridge and restart your printer . Hope this solves your problem . If your problem still exists then its due to faulty cartridge you need to replace it .

Canon Pixma MX300 won't print black anymore! How to fix?

I have used "refill" kits in the past and for the time and effort involved you might just try finding a local retailer that will give you credit for the empty cartridge to replace with a professionally refilled one.

The problem with refilling the same cartridge over and over again is that they will, eventually, need to be replaced. I would suggest that you

1 - Make sure there is nothing plugging the hole at the top of the cartridge to allow air in, which is needed to let the ink flow out.

2- Install another cartridge and you get the same problem, then it narrows your fix to something with the printer.

3 - If it is the printer, I were rubber gloves and use "denatured alcohol" and a rag (no not use anything with paper as it can tear and leave pieces inside causing the printer to jamb) and after removing all of the cartridges wipe down anything that I can reach inside the printer.

4 - Although you have tried the DEEP CLEAN, if the none of the above works for you, try the NOZZLE CLEAN. If you are still having a problem then either re-post the problem or doe a Google Search listing the model of the printer you have, you may find out it is a problem that others have experienced and there is no solution.

Good Luck

Canon mx860 printer not using ink from PGBK 220

Inkjet printers need to be used frequently to prevent ink drying out and blocking the print head nozzles.
If the print head cleaning maintenance routine does not clear the blockages, then print head needs replacing, but it may be expensive.
It may be more cost effective to buy a later model and better printer than replace the print head.

My hp 6500 won't print black. I've changed the cartridge twice. No result. Can the ink not be getting to the printer head?

Unplug the printer for at least overnight. I have 3 of these printers and all 3 have done this. All 3 came back after being unplugged for a long period.
Personally, I think a class action suit might be in order.

The black ink on my Brother DCP-130C won't print and it's a brand new ink cartridge. I thought it was a defected cartridge so I bought another one, same thing. The other 3 colours print ok though....

I have the same problem. Everything on the printer is working just fine. It'll do a test page just fine, so everything's working right. The %$^ thing just won't print. It makes noise like it's printing when you give it a print job, but it spits out blank pages.

My Lc61 will not print black--on the test page, the colors are fine. I've replaced the ink cartridge and it says it's full but won't print

Most likely this is a print head issue. The print head is what the cartridges sit in inside of the printer. To attempt to resolve it, do the following:

(1) Open the printer
(2) Remove the ink cartridges from the print head.
(3) Use cotton swabs dipped in hot water to thoroughly clean the print head and each ink cartridge.
(4) Repeat this until there is no ink residue coming off on the cotton swab.
(5) Once finished, allow to dry and replace the cartridges
(6) Try to print something now

If that does not work then you have one of two possibilities:
(1) One of the ink cartridges is defective and causing the error
(2) If it's definitely not that, then the print head will need to be replaced.

This has been addressed a lot but my problem isn't solved. I have a brand new Black 32 toner for a Lexmark x7170 all in one printer. It won't accept the toner - gives me the message "left...

It could be a faulty cartridge. Have you already tried inserting a different known working cartridge? If error continues to pop-up even with a different new or a known working cartridge, then it could be a hardware problem. Try to contact Lexmark technical support on the phone for additional assistance.

Hp photosmart 8050 won`t print black even though it says it full

Hi there! If you haven`t used the printer in 2-3 months the black ink cartridge has gona dry.Wich means the printer is seeing full ink but the ink isn`t actually coming out from the ink head.Take a peace of clean cloth or cotton and clear the bottom part of the ink head(be verry carfully while cleaning it cuz you may dmg the head.If that doesn`t help just go and buy a new ink cartridge and it will solve your problem.

Will not print text in documents, only headings.

When you go to print on your settings select print in black only. Did you buy Brother ink? Having old cartridges refilled or buying generic can pose a problem. I remember correctly brothers have a chip on the ink cartridge? I have gone through so many printers and its really not worth going any further, seems as though you have put sometime and effort in to this 100$ printer. Take 100$ & buy a kodak easy share all in one the ink is 15$ brand new.

Black won't print!!

Hi denzirelli, Apparently several reviews of this printer say it is known for poor print quality when dealing with graphics AND the tubes can become blocked. As far as troubleshooting goes if you haven?t done so already purchase a new set of official Brother ink jet cartridges, black and color. The newer ink jets are a lot smarter and remember the last couple of cartridge serial numbers. If that doesn?t work then try running the nozzle cleaning utility a couple of times. If that fails call the Brother and let them walk you through the troubleshooting process. I don?t suggest you lie, just don't volunteer the fact that you were evil and tried to deprive them of their profit. Worst case they won?t do a warrantee replacement, best case is you?ll have a working printer. If you don?t want to pursue the above option or if tech support won?t help then we?re back to troubleshooting again, when you say it doesn?t print black does that mean colors do print? If that?s the case then I suspect the black tube or the nozzles are blocked. From what I?ve read it?s a little bit of a pain to remove the print head but the key is not to disconnect the tubes. Remove the print head and the cartridge container as a unit. The ribbon cables have to be unplugged from the circuit board. Disconnect the belt and you should be able to take the print head out and clean it. Let us know how it turns out and don?t forget to rate the posting.
