SOURCE: sub zero 650 fidge holding at 53 degrees

That depends on if your model has a five or ten year warranty on the compressor. Your problem may not be warranty related. Check and see if the condenser is clean, check for a frozen cooling coil.

Most likely you have a leak in the evaporator. Subzero warranties the parts for 12 years. Call them to find out what they will cover. They are agreat company and will be fair with you.

If you cleaned out the condensor unit, your problem is probably a bad evaporator. Schedule a service call. If the condensor was really dirty then you may have just compacted the dust into the condensor in which case a shot of CO2 would be a good idea.

Look on your sub zero for more model numbers. I have found some information indicating that the refrigerator thermostat may be the problem but need those numbers to confirm. Thanks, Sea Breeze

SOURCE: The refrigerator on my SubZero 650 is too warm.

Hi,
Check for frost building on the back wall in the freezer. If this is happening, the unit is not defrosting and this frost will block the air flow to the refrigerator section. The air flow from the freezer is what cools the refrigerator and without it, the refrigerator section will get warm.
A technician will be required to make these checks.

Hope this helps.

Are you talking about 19 degrees Fahrenheit? The normal temperature for the refrigerator section should be 38?, and the freezer should be at 0?, both in Fahrenheit.

Freezer turns of in cold weather

Many residential refrigerator / freezers are designed to work at temperature considerably above above freezing. Most modern refrigerator / freezer have a single electric thermostat - located in the fresh food compartment. This lone thermostat will control the compressor to keep the fridge (fresh food) section at the desired temperature (usually between 34 - 38 degrees F). The freezer will get colder regardless of how cold it is already whenever the fridge thermostat turns the compressor on.

Now that you see how the thermostat works, let's look at what happens when the fridge is placed in an unheated space - like a garage. In winter time, the temperature can drop considerably below 38 degrees. If the outdoor temperature remains cold enough, for long enough - it will affect the thermostat in the fridge. The temperature inside the fridge could drop below 38 degrees, preventing the thermostat from telling the compressor to turn on. Meanwhile, the temperature in the freezer compartment slowly rises from the normal -10 to 0 F degrees. It will continue to rise until it is the same temperature as the fresh food compartment or until the thermostat in the fresh food compartment tells the compressor to turn on again. This means the freezer contents will thaw.

If the temperature in the garage is even in the 40 to 50 degree range, the loss of cold in the fridge may not happen often enough to keep the compressor coming on often enough to keep some freezer items frozen solid - such as ice cream. Remember, water freezes at 32 degrees F, other products may require lower temperatures to remain frozen, and could thaw at 28 or other temperature.

Good luck!

Fridge temp set to 38 is blinking,,reset unit

I had a similar problem, paid a technician $90 to tell me to defrost the entire unit for 15-20 hours, and now it works like new. It is supposed to self defrost, but with poor circulation in the freezer (simply caused by too much stuff in there) the unit frosts up. This caused a rising temp in the freezer leading to inconsistent temps.

Anyone reading this with a similar issue, save your money and defrost it overnight. You should see a pool of water in the bottom of the freezer after defrost if this was the problem.

Refridgerator not cooling

That fan at the top has to remain on during cooling or you get the temps. you describe. To check this you need a voltage meter. Got to get to the fan and have to check if there is voltage 120v when it shuts off. If there is still voltage present when it shuts off then change the fan, if no volts when it shuts off then change the timer. need complete model cause this one may have an adapative timer.. i fixed one with the same problem last year.

Adjust the setting until you can maintain a temp of 0 in the freezer and between 32 and 38 in the ref. These are the normal operating temps for this box.
