I have the x-540 speakers and they will play music through media player. They will not work with any of the system sounds or websites though.

To philipyork: the speakers never will be detected in your pc, the hardware (plug and play) is the only detected for the computer, if u have a message saying no device sound then will be the audio card.

to rocker: check the cable, the volume in the pc.

Sounds like the speakers are not plugged in to the computer, or are plugged in to the wrong socket.

Could there be an electrical short in the speakers line?Could you return them for a refund? Also did the speakers come with the logitech computer system? Have the speaker system bench tested. Then go out and buy a new pair.

Logitech X-540 connecting to dell dimension 3000 ???

Your problem is you have a 3 channel sound card on your dell and you bought 5 channel speaker system. You can plug the green to green and get 2.1 sound but you will have to by a 5.1 pci sound like in the link below to get the full use of your 5.1 system.
