I'm installing a LG lmvh1711st over the range microwave and need to use 4" bolts instead of the stock 3" bolts to extend from the above cabinet. Where can I get 4" bolts?

the thread in the microwave may be 6mm X 1mm or 1.5 mm
you do not state the make of microwave so assume that it is made in china . japan, korea ( all metric measurement countries )and has a local brand name attached
get the bolts from the local hard ware shop

NO more Heating

The magnetron unit in the microwave needs to be replaced. To verify this you can ohm the wire connectors and the body of the magnetron. If there is no resistance on the ohm meter it is still good, but if you get resistance on the ohm meter the magnetron is shorting.

Oh, so it only heats a little, but it does heat some.

Assuming your line voltage levels are correct, I would suspect the magnetron.

My 87 year old mother just bought a new Maytag over-the-range microwave model MMV1153BAW. The bolt that came with it is too short to install it into her cupboard configuration. She says it is a #6 metric...

She may need to buy a length of "all-thread" of the right size, cut it down, and then add two nuts to the tool end so it can be turned and installed.

If you're not sure, you can ask about it at the hardware store, and even show them the attached photo.

We're happy to help and we appreciate your thoughtful rating of our answer.
