My Canon E510 printer is showing Scanutility Code: 13,242,0 and am unable to scan any document.

The scan utility may be trying to save the file to a directory that doesn't exist. Alternatively, the disk may be full or the directory is set to read only. When you installed the program, the default scan destination folder can end up with only the Administrator account having write permission.

Assuming that the drive isn't full, the simplest solution is to create a new folder to store your scanned documents in File Explorer (Windows). Next open the scan utility program as an administrator; right click on the executable and choose Run as Administrator. In the scanner settings, change the destination folder to the folder you created.

I hope this helps.

(On some computers with a small C: drive (SSDs in laptops/netbooks), you'll need a second (external) drive to store the scanned documents.)

I want to scan a document to a folder

The folder on your computer must be shared with full permissions given. From the scanner, you then browse the network to the computer where you created the share. Save that as your scanning destination.

I have a Kyocera KM-2560 printer/scanner/copier that is accessible via LAN for a number of computers. When the vendor intially installed the system he assigned "scanning" to only one computer...

It sounds like the vendor set up only one scan destination. That destination is accessed by other computers on the network. You would have to have to create a different scan destination for each computer if you want to be able to scan documents while that computer is off. This is a link to instructions for doing that.

When you scan a document where on the computer do you find the scanned document

The scan destination on your computer may vary depending on the path that you set. This article in the Lexmark website on How to Scan Using the Lexmark X5400 Series All-In-One might help you understand the process. Notice Step 6 on Scanning a Document, that's the part where you set your preferred scan destination - either in your Documents folder, on the Desktop or your personal folder.
I hope this information has been helpful. Thanks.

SCANNER SAYING NO USER ID

This means that you have not set up any users in the address book in the printer.

Copy is simple, it will scan the document and print out a copy of the scanned image.

Scan however, is trying to make and store an image file of the scan, but it needs to know WHERE you want to scan it to. The printer does not know where to send the stored image unless you create a storage location for it. This is done with the address book that is stored on the printer.

The material below is how to set up the scanner settings of the printer.

Printer Settings Utility Using the Printer Settings Utility window, you can set up the fax system data options, and create and edit Phonebook entries from your computer. You can also configure the destination launches when you access Scan and then PC.
When you install the Dell software, the Printer Settings Utility is automatically installed.
For information about installing the software, see "Installing Software in Windows".
To open the Printer Settings Utility:
  1. Click Start software25.jpg Programs software25.jpg DELL software25.jpg DELL Printers software25.jpg DELL Laser MFP 1815 software25.jpg Printer Settings Utility.
The Printer Settings Utility window opens.

  1. The Printer Settings Utility window provides several features; Directory (Phone Book, Address Book), Fax Setting (Fax Cover Sheet), and Scan (Destination, Resolution, Scan Color, Show Preview).
The Scan Section The Destination Section To configure the operator panel display scan destination list that appears when you access Scan and then PC, click Destination and the Setting button. Using the destination list, you can select a software program that an image can be scanned to.

Can not scan to computer

hi,

below are the steps that i want you to follow. The "NO SCAN OPTIONS" refer to the absence of options when you try to scan using the printer button your printer. However, if you are going to scan from the SOlution center installed in your computer, it will scan without any problem.

If more than one HP device is installed, click the tab for the All-in-One product. The HP Solution Center shows only the functions, settings, and support options that are appropriate for the selected HP product.
  2. Click Settings .
  3. Click Scan Settings and Preferences .
  4. Click Scan to... Setup .

NOTE: Depending on the computer performance, it can take several minutes for the Front Panel Destination List to populate after the printer or computer is turned on.
  6. If the Front Panel Destination List is empty, continue with this procedure. If the Front Panel Destination List contains valid scan destinations, proceed to step three to uninstall and reinstall the software.
  7. Click each program to include on the Scan To list.
  8. Click the Add arrow.
