Question about IBM ThinkPad T60 Notebook

LPT1 not working

I have an IBM T60 Centenial DUO laptop. It will not boot up. I have gone to the ThinkAdvantage site it says my LPT1 port is not working. I have tried to disable the port from the BIOS but am unable to do so.

It is fixable?

Thank you for your response. I got into the BIOS through IBM's ThinkAdvantage button and through F1. I found no way in BIOS to disable LPT1.

To be more precise, if I let WIndows attempt to boot up I get an error message which reads:

Stop: OXC000000022 (OX000000000). The system has been shut down. Drive type SATA. The system them goes into a loop continuing to attempt to boot up and getting the same message.

When I do the ThinkAdvantage test on the system it says: Command and Data Port LPT1 failed 5 out of 13.

That is as precise as I can get at this point.

Hi looking at your description it seems more like a drive error as a opposed to lpt1 problem, I've never known a lpt1 port to stop boot.
Sata drives are notorious for bad connections, could it be that the connections to your drive have worked loose?

I hope this helps, if not please let me know thanks.

I'm trying to install XP on IBM x60 ThinkPad, but it's giving me a missing operating system error.

You can boot up with a USB memory stick if you go into the BIOS and the boot up device order and make the USB port the first boot device.

My ibm is lenovo t60 and i need bios password

I would tell you to clear the CMOS. But, on those laptops, they soldered a chip on dedicated to saving password information, etc.. You'll have to replace the motherboard. If the pc's functioning fine, you can use the "ThinkVantage" button to restore the factory settings.

I forgot my power-on password for my ibm thinkpad t60 and i can no longer use it. is there a way to remove the password so i could use the laptop?

take it apart and remove the bios battery on the motherboard, remove main battery, set something heavy on power button to hold it down and wait, maybe a day ,or a couple hours ,it varies ,sometimes doesnt even work, but this one should reset, reassemble and power up ,good luck ,hope this helps.aloha from maui todd0708

IBM T60 to D-SUB on HD TV

The laptop has a blue 15 pin D-sub video port, connect a video cable from this port to the 15 pin D-sub on the HDTV.
Power up the TV first and then power up the laptop, the video signal will automatically switch to the external video output.
You can toggle between the LCD and TV or both on together by pressing the blue Fn key + the F7 function key several times.

Ibm t60 will not boot after ibm updates

The problem is sort of solved. I phoned the IBM Support centre; they said that the mother board was either broken or faulty. Fortunately the laptop is still under waranty and so an engineer will come and fix it. I must say the IBM suport centre was very efficient and quick.

There was no mention from them though that it was the bios update that may have caused the problem.

I'll update when the laptop is working.
